Hello!

I intend to DM a campaign set in Mulhorand (and maybe into its border regions, like Thay, Unther...), but I find regional material on that land hard to get by. I read the FRCS, Unapprochable East, Shining South and Lost Empires of Faerun entries, but I wonder wether there is anything else? Since I am mostly interested in background, even 2nd edition material would be good.

I also found the Wiki entries and this website (http://www.hallofhero.com/sand/index.cfm?modac=intro), which seems quite nice, but anything on Mulhorand would still be nice.

If anyone is interested, here is the basic idea.

The story will begin in a remote isolated part of the kingdom. The local lord had a daughter who has been recently discovered as the local secret hero (a nightly unknown protector) that had successfully uncovered a few ruffians/organisations in the recent years. However, the discovery of her identity came with the learning that her ancestry came all the way down from Demons, and that a Pact with the demonic ancestor was all that prevented the region from being invaded by Demons. The Pact however demanded that a newborn be sacrificed every new Moon.
Upon stumbling on the sacrifice scene, the daughter (a Rogue 5/Wu Jen 5/Daggerspell Mage 3) killed her father and was named Lady of the area. She has decided to stop the sacrifices and face the Demons. She made an appeal to all those willing to assist her in defending her country. Her mentor, a Wu-jen from Kara-Turn, has called upon a good friend of hers, who sends the PCs to help.
The PCs are a Fighter/Duskblade and a Wizard/Harper Mage. I may add an NPC Cleric if needed, but I'd rather not.

The storyline will get something along this : the Pharaoh will send a few Clerical power to the aid of the landlady, and a few adventurers will join her forces. However, no invading demons will appear, so the temporary forces will have to deal with apparently mundane problems for a while. They will eventually discover that a hidden organisation seems to be directing a number of evil forces to the area and will follow the hints up to Thay and/or Unther, who themselves are being manipulated by Demons, prone to sow Chaos into the lands. There will be some final fight, but it's not gonna happen before a few months from now, and many things may change from here. The campaign will lead from the original area through a few other locations in Mulhorand, and one of my goals is to make the players discover a little about that area in which they never have played. (I guess I am the only one in my group to feel the need for a change of sceneries at times).

OK, so to summarize, I am looking for fluff about Mulhorand, official if possible. Ideas for my campaign will be welcome as well, of course. ;)

Thanks

Might want to head over to Paizo or DriveThruRPG and look for Old Empires in PDF format, as its the most recent stuff on the region you're looking for that I know of. :)

Don't forget the tidbits in both Power of Faerūn and Dragons of Faerūn.

Stigger, thanks. Too bad the Old Empires sourcebook is not on the Download part of the Wizards website...

All right, I will have a look in there, Old Sage.

And look at the old Powers & Pantheons for info on all the gods, which carries with it a lot of related cultural info. The gods and their priests are very important in Mulhorand.

-Yes. Concerning the deities, don't bother with Faiths and Pantheons. The 2e Powers and Pantheons is lightyears ahead. Basically, the info in F&P is a watered down, condensed version of P&P.

A friend of mine has some 2nd edition material, so I'll go check at his place.

What about my story? What do you guys think? I want a mix of political intrigue and action, as one of the players (the Fighter/Duskblade) is a hack'n'slash and treasure lover while the other (Wizard/Harper Mage) is not so keen on fighting, and would rather have intrigues and roleplaying options. I favour this as well, but I'm not too good at long scenes of RP, so a mix is welcome for me as well...

What would you suggest for my adventure as it is?
