ExtinctionBeta 07-26-07, 02:10 PM	Am I the only one who wishes that authours would have thier characters interact? They mention each other a few times sure but other than that, they never actually meet/fight/ally or anything of the other. I understand it's thier own work but I think it would draw more readers in if the authors could come to some agreement to having characters interact with one another.

And inside the FR, people don not travel so much as we do in XXI° century ! ;) So, that's not really easy to make Cadderly meet Matteo, or make Wulfgar meet Keane ! But you can read about Drizzt and Cadderly meeting !

And go figure when ever the fight 219854852385023 times neither dies and it's always this even fight. Each wins an even number of battles. You would think that such experienced fighters would be able kill one another expecially after battling a billion times. But no, the authour would rather not have a character die and add more deph to the story. Even if authours would co-write, chances are they would "ally up" and fight some unknown enemy just made up out of nowhere. Alot of characters share the same time realm.
Aaron Highcolor 07-27-07, 02:37 PM	Yes, but in the number of times that I have met Bob Salvatore, he has stated he won't use other people's characters, as he would hope that they wouldn't use his. Each author intrinsically knows his characters the best.
Fillow 07-27-07, 03:39 PM	The only characters that have met are Artemis and Drizzt(same authour of coruse). I insist ! Drizzt meets Cadderly ! in the Silent blade novel. Cadderly uses his knowledge to help the drow.
Smilin_Bandit 07-27-07, 04:08 PM	The meeting of characters is often done through other genres. Games, comics, etc... What's important to remember is that the story isn't always about the character/s. Sometimes the world itself is the primary focus and the heroes and villians are simply a ripple in a massive ocean of happenings. One also needs to look at the nature of the characters. Larloch for instance, never leaves his lair on the sword coast. He's been around long enough to realize that to leave his sanctuary is the easiest way for him to get put in the dead book. Drizz't and his freinds have traveled in the past, but they generally will stay close to their northern home. Most sentient creatures (and I'm speaking from a human point of view) are affraid of the unkown and will stick to what they know, especially after near death experiences. It's a very rare soul that can move into the unkown where they have no bonds or security. Exploring the world is a common thing for adventurers, but even they need a home base, a place for them to go to wind down, to have a semblance of structure and order, a place they know. With many of these heroes, they have resposibilities that go beyond what they want. They have communities that depend on them, like Cadderly and the Spirit Soaring, and Bruenor and the Dwarves of Mithril Hall. Most of the Seven Sisters have political ties and therefore unable to roam the world. With all of this in mind, it only makes sense that your not going to see heroes and villians, that different authors write about, interacting with one another. Its just less likely. ~Smilin_Bandit~ :D
