In the Everis Kale books, Kesson Rel is named as the first chosen created by Mask. I was wondering if there is more information on him some where as I had no clue as to who or what he was when he was introduced.

Thanks!

Check out The Shade chapter in Lords of Darkness book. There you find some info on him and the other Princes of Shade :)

Also, Shadowbred and the forthcoming Shadowstorm have some additional information.

-I flipped through that, and I found nothing concerning Kesson Rel. And, he isn't a Prince of Shade- not that we know, anyway.

I believe George means the "Realms of Dragons" short story entitled "Soulbound." Sorry for the confusion.

LK,

Quite so. There is no mention of Kesson Rel in LoD. For anyone interested, most of Kesson's backstory is set forth in the forthcoming Shadowstorm. I suspect that backstory will raise a few more questions, but it will certainly answer many.

Thanks Paul!

I love your books. I had picked up Shadow Bred first, and have since been catching up on the other books. When I read the 2nd book of the Cale trilogy, I saw his name for the first time, and was wondering if I had some how missed some Realms lore that I should be brushing up on.

Oh... and since you are here, are you planning on writing about how Mags and Riven first met?

Paul, you are the man! I also first picked up Shadowbred[I], and then went back to read the Erevis Cale trilogy, they are some of my favorite books of all time, and I am very much looking forward to [I]Shadowstorm.

You've really sparked my interest with the hints and teases about Kesson's background that you've put out there so far. Good stuff. I'm keen to see you develop it more.

Of course, I'm still hedging my bets that he and the Lord Sciagraph / Volumvax are the same person. I might be completely off base in that assumption, but we'll see. :)

Um shem, isn't Volumvax a servant of Shar? Hmm, unless Kesson is a fallen chosen...

-Yes, yes he is. He even has a DR 0.

Well, Mask does indicate to Cale that Kesson stole something from him long ago. I would tend to think he wouldn't keep the Shadowlord's good graces after an offense like that. Although perhaps he would, if Mask were more impressed than angry, given he is himself the God of Thieves.

In any case, I too look forward to learning more about Kesson. I'll have to pick up Realms of the Dragons just to get that short story about him to hold me over until the release of Shadowstorm. :)

I appreciate that, ODM. Thank you. I'm always pleased to hear that folks enjoyed something I wrote. And I'm doubly pleased when reading something today (like Shadowbred) inspires a reader to go back and read something I wrote yesterday (like the Cale Trilogy or the Sembia novels).:)

I'm glad to hear that, Shem. And we will see indeed. You'll know whether you are right are wrong with the release of Shadowstorm. :)

-What Kesson stole...Let me rephrase that. One of the things that Kesson stole- that we know of- is dealt with in that short story.

Every time I see those blacked out posts, I feel like I'm trying to read some secret government document that has everything blacked out except "Hope that clears everything up. See you on the flip side." :censored:

No...it doesn't clear anything up...it makes me crazy! I need to know man :banghead:
