| Second03-29-07, 01:04 AM | I'm currently sitting on a level 15 Erudite in an FR campaign. Surely there have to be high level psionic NPCs hanging around somewhere. Given how rare psionic talent is, it's difficult to find someone with high level powers I can learn. The only one I've found so far is a level 16 Wilder mentioned in PGtF. What are others that I am missing? |
| Dark Wizard03-29-07, 01:29 AM | Ioulaum. He's a Netherese survivor and an archwizard and a lich and an elder brain. |
| Karsus the Mad03-29-07, 08:42 AM | Ioulaum. He's a Netherese survivor and an archwizard and a lich and an elder brain. As an effective 20th level telepath, he's the highest "level" psion I'm aware of. There's also Thalynsar the Ulithautarch, a weird 24th level mage ulitharilich (ulitharid [paragon mindflayer] alhoon) elderbrain hybrid. |
| redmagefish03-29-07, 03:48 PM | the house of serepents main char. is really good |
| Lord Karsus03-29-07, 06:52 PM | -Ryvvik Dlardraegeth, back when he was alive, was a 13th level Half-Fiend Psion. That's not too shabby. |
| AbyssKnight03-29-07, 09:35 PM | As an effective 20th level telepath, he's the highest "level" psion I'm aware of. There's also Thalynsar the Ulithautarch, a weird 24th level mage ulitharilich (ulitharid [paragon mindflayer] alhoon) elderbrain hybrid. Who had to be destroyed and consumed by the other illithidliches in his council according to Underdark. |
| The Jake03-29-07, 11:00 PM | Kimmuriel Oblodra? |
| Lord Karsus03-29-07, 11:32 PM | -There's also Deep Duerra, back when she was mortal. Thought she never had stats during this point of time, the Mordinsamman (and/or Laduguer) wouldn't have elevated a defenseless moron. |
| The Ranger03-30-07, 12:10 AM | Magadon from Paul Kemp's Erevis Cale trilogy was pretty potent. He's even more powerful in Shadowbred. |
| EytanBernstein03-30-07, 06:21 AM | Magadon and Kimmuriel are good choices, though perhaps a bit inaccessible. Also, in Hlondeth, you should have a good amount of choices with all of the Yuan-ti. Arvin and a number of other characters in Lisa Smedman's House of Serpents trilogy have psionic powers. The PGtF has a number of psionic organization. Don't feel the need to stick to only named characters. Those hooks are provided for you to create your own NPCs. |
| Lord Karsus03-30-07, 10:05 AM | -Eytan reminded me...There's also a whole bunch of Gem Dragons out there, most of which have Psionic special abilities. |
| Karsus the Mad03-30-07, 12:54 PM | Who had to be destroyed and consumed by the other illithidliches in his council according to Underdark. He's dead? NOOO! He was the only mindflayer thingy I liked:weep: |
| ShadezofDis03-30-07, 01:44 PM | There was also mention of a psionic run monestary . . . I think in Northern Turmish. . . but I haven't read the entirety of the 2E source (found in the downloads section) in quite some time so I'm not really fresh on it. I believe they were guardians of some sort of chronomancy device. |
| Sir_Wolfgar03-30-07, 07:23 PM | What was the name of those Drow Psions that Salvatore did, a whole house of Psions. Then he also did one in a Jarlaxle/Entrei novel. (Sorry my memory fails me at the moment). |
| Lord Karsus03-30-07, 11:52 PM | What was the name of those Drow Psions that Salvatore did, a whole house of Psions. Then he also did one in a Jarlaxle/Entrei novel. (Sorry my memory fails me at the moment). -That would be House Oblodra. They're mostly all kinda dead now, though. ;) And that single Drow is Kimmuriel, the one that Jake mentioned before. |
| Ramar Aulinvox04-01-07, 06:33 PM | There are a number of Illithids in the Realms. The most powerful, non-divine, psionic being that I know of is the Encephalithid (Elder brain of Oryndoll) [elder brain w/ 20 levels of psion to boot {effective 40 L. manifester}]. If you are looking for more powerful psionic beings to learn powers from, then spend some time with the githzerai in Limbo [warrior's rest in FR i think]. Or check the bottom of the Vilhoun Reach for power stones [I believe that LEoF talked about some creatures hoarding Jhaamdath psionic items]. |
| Zireael04-02-07, 07:03 AM | Oblodra, the illithids, or githzerai are the most powerful psionics in Realms. |
| Ramar Aulinvox04-02-07, 01:43 PM | The githyanki have some measure of power as well; however, they would be capped at 16L. Another powerful psionic being would be the Sojourner from the Erevis Cale trilogy. |
| Lord Karsus04-02-07, 03:47 PM | Another powerful psionic being would be the Sojourner from the Erevis Cale trilogy. -The Sojourner is also quite unique, and he is quite dead now.. |
| johnnype04-03-07, 06:27 PM | Magadon and Kimmuriel are good choices, though perhaps a bit inaccessible. Eytan, have you seen any good writeups of either of these two? |
| BrennonGoldeye04-03-07, 08:32 PM | Don't think there are much more in canon. Pity that.;) A 15min search by my group #2 has come up with 67 seperate psionic PC's and NPC's. It can do quite alot when givin the chance.;) I promised name and smiley for the work..Alex:whatsthis,Nika:bump: ,Wil:cool:, Ham:plotting: and Dashi:fight!: |
