Kobold region/deity [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-27-07, 03:14 PM I'm thinking about playing a Kobold Sorcerer in a FR campaign. Anyone have any ideas on what would be a good region and deity for my character? Kobold's aren't really mentioned in the FR Campaign Setting or the Player's Guide to Faerun and the Races of the Dragon book doesn't mention the realms.

I'm thinking of playing him as Neutral or lawful neutral. I thought about him worshipping a draconic god of some sort and being the servant of a dragon.

07-27-07, 03:43 PM Dragon #216 discusses kobold realms of old and several small unstable groups in the modern Realms. Bear in mind that the kobold–dragon connection is a 3E invention and while I think it has made its way to the Realms, most kobolds worship Kurtulmak and the rest of their pantheon (http://www.masterao.com/articles/articles.asp?action=showarticle&id=53) rather than any dragon god.

I was hesitant to pick any of Kurtulmak's pantheon because I'm not playing an evil char. An evil char wouldn't fit in with this campaign so I was trying to find another option.

07-27-07, 04:34 PM I like the sound of the character being the servant of a dragon. Where does the campaign begin? Do you envisage a metallic, chromatic or neutral dragon? The latter, as types, are limited to gem dragons, steel, mist, and a few other rare kinds.

07-29-07, 02:51 AM I have thought of being a kobold numerous times myself in Faerun, and normally I find a swamp infested with other lizards as my region. Such as: the Vast Swamp in Cormyr, or the Lizard Marsh near waterdeep, but I think there is a trio of volcanic mountains in the Jungles of Chult called Kobold Mountains that would provide a nice habitat for a kobold tribe to thrive. You could also serve/worship a red dragon in the volcanoe. These are just some ideas, wether helpfull or not.

07-29-07, 11:58 PM How about these for feats: Discipline, Favored Enemy: Gnomes, Daylight Adaptation.

And maybe this could be starting equipment:
a) masterwork light pick (miner's pick), 10 ft of rope, and bulls-eye lantern
b) wand of color spray (20 charges) and 3 potions of cure light wounds
c) masterwork hard leather armor and masterwork shortspear
