| Isildrae Kyuss03-08-07, 07:15 AM | Any fancy having a go at creating a profile and stats for these two wonderful little characters...I can't find them in any resource books as such and very little online. Surely interesting characters however... |
| Isildrae Kyuss03-08-07, 07:35 AM | Ok so I found stats for Lamruil easily enough...I never knew about those lovely compiled threads of NPCs...I do now though...Maura still a mystery to me. I'm trying to remember what source material she pops up in... |
| Lord Karsus03-08-07, 09:25 AM | -If I recall correctly, Lamruil's statblock is included in the 2e Elves of Evermeet. |
| runestar03-08-07, 09:34 AM | I am quite intrigued by Maura(seeing as her being the daughter of Laeral). Where can I find more fluff on her?:) |
| MarkusTay6303-08-07, 09:38 AM | -If I recall correctly, Lamruil's statblock is included in the 2e Elves of Evermeet. But it's way outdated, i think he was just a Ftr 10. I don't think Maura's gonna see much more of him, he's probably Polar Bear bait by now. Either way, he's not coming back, and humans are not allowed to know where the new 'crib' is at. |
| Isildrae Kyuss03-08-07, 10:14 AM | I do beleive that she went their with him to be his 'queen'. I've found the 2ed stat block for him...thanks Karsus! I'll have to keep looking to see if anyone fancies a stab at updating his stats or even havinga goat Maura. and yeah I thought she would attract more interest, being daughter of Laeral, and one of the few humans to be allowed on Evermeet. |
| runestar03-08-07, 11:24 AM | Also, does anyone know who Maura's father is, and just how she was conceived?:P I know it was when Laeral was mad due to the crown of horns, but they kinda glossed over the whole incident in Waterdeep...:( |
| Isildrae Kyuss03-08-07, 11:31 AM | They pretty much glossed over it in 'Evermeet: Island of Elves' as well... |
| The Simbul03-08-07, 10:45 PM | The father of Maura was likely one of the Nine, i.e. the adventuring band Laeral led when she came upon the Crown of Horns. If I had to guess, I would suggest Steven Schend might have a theory and/or something up his sleeve on the topic. I am surprised nothing was revealed about it in Blackstaff...given how many things were revealed about Khelben and Laeral in that novel. |
| Lord Karsus03-08-07, 11:13 PM | -Lamruil, Maura, and anything remotely linked to them has really been wiped off of the slate, so to say. |
| Old Sage03-09-07, 12:41 AM | Steven Schend has, in the past, *speculated* that the Blackstaff may indeed be Maura's father. Though, for now, it is just that... speculation. |
| runestar03-09-07, 12:47 AM | I thought Maura's father was an elf, thus making her half-elven? That is probably the only reason why she was able to reside on Evermeet, right? And has there been any contact between Maura and Laeral? Are they even aware of each other's existance and role? Don't they miss each other or something? Really, properly executed, I think this could make for a fine novel indeed...:P |
| Lord Karsus03-09-07, 12:50 AM | I thought Maura's father was an elf, thus making her half-elven? That is probably the only reason why she was able to reside on Evermeet, right? And has there been any contact between Maura and Laeral? Are they even aware of each other's existance and role? Don't they miss each other or something? -The Blackstaff does have Elven blood in him. -As for contact between Maura and Laeral. If I recall correctly, Laeral mentions her in one of her letters to Danillo in Evemeet: Island of Elves. Or, was it the other way around? Or, am I losing it? |
| Old Sage03-09-07, 01:13 AM | Re: There being nothing revealed about Maura in Blackstaff... It was Steven's intention that readers would only learn a few dribs and drabs more about the Chosen and their children in Blackstaff, though you wouldn't be learning anything about Khelben's and Laeral's child(ren). That being said... Steven has a full workup on the Blackstaff family tree, though it remains to be seen if he'll ever be able to publish it. I certainly hope we will see it at some point. |
| Green Elven Vampire03-09-07, 01:19 AM | Lamruil and Maura are the rulers of the elven kingdom somewhere in the far, far north of Faerun. Maura and Laeral still keep in touch from time to time as is said in Island of elves. It is said that Maura's father is unknown due to her disposition while she was wearing the crown of horns. She had sex with unknown male under the influance of the crown and Khelben found her wild and crazy and helped her with the child. The child has no elven blood as far as what is written. |
| MarkusTay6303-09-07, 04:29 AM | It's Obould's kid. ;) |
| Isildrae Kyuss03-09-07, 05:03 AM | -As for contact between Maura and Laeral. If I recall correctly, Laeral mentions her in one of her letters to Danillo in Evemeet: Island of Elves. Or, was it the other way around? Or, am I losing it? No no you aren't quite losing it just yet...they know of each others existance. The child has no elven blood as far as what is written. I'm almost certain that in one of the first descriptions of Maura in Isle of Elves, it is mentioned that she has some elven blood in her - although not a half elf which points to long time ago. Besides I thought Laeral had some elven blood in her? |
| Green Elven Vampire03-09-07, 06:57 AM | Laeral is wholly human! |
| BrennonGoldeye03-09-07, 07:50 AM | I do believe Laeral's mom was a half-elf. That would qualify for blooded I believe, although still human.;) |
| Isildrae Kyuss03-09-07, 09:25 AM | Now if only I was at home I could find something to prove right or wrong either way...but so far at work there is very little around apart from silly business things...how dull. |
| Lord Karsus03-09-07, 10:24 AM | Besides I thought Laeral had some elven blood in her? -The majority of Mystra's Chosen have some Elven blood in them, to varying degrees. It seems that most of the "common Chosen" (El, Khelben, the Seven Sisters) do not really have enough for it to manifest, and label them Half-Elves. |

It seems that most of the "common Chosen" (El, Khelben, the Seven Sisters) do not really have enough for it to manifest, and label them Half-Elves. El as far as greenwood has reveal has no elven blood. Khelben's father is Half-elf but his mother was human. The seven Sisters have a half-elven mother but thier father is Human. Sammaster was fully human Not sure about the slient chosen but i think she is human. |
| GothicDan03-09-07, 02:52 PM | And the Srinshee, of course, is quite Elven. |

| BrianCritchley03-09-07, 03:43 PM | of the commonly known chosen there DOES seem to be a corellation in that MANY of them are quarter elves. indeed of the 9 "commonly known chosen" a full 7 are quarter elves, 1 is a drow (however would have been a quarter elf had Mystra not had to adapt her plans) and 1 is a human, this would lead one to wonder if there might be some sort of corelation. |
| boards03-09-07, 06:40 PM | No no you aren't quite losing it just yet...they know of each others existance. Besides I thought Laeral had some elven blood in her? About the only mention of Maura in Isle of Elves relating to what her father might have been, is that she is somewhat dark and exotic looking hinting at southern blood, and eyes like an elf but Lareal says that it may have come from her not the father. |
| Isildrae Kyuss03-10-07, 03:16 AM | I just found some info whilst sifting through Candlekeep and seems to be some of th best info yet, straight from the horses mouth as it were. I put it in a spoiler just in case someone doesn't want to know - besides I 've been waiting for a reason to use it...I always ask questions never get to answer  Now would anyone think about taking a stab at her...building her i mean... "Lamruil, the youngest son, has been an adventurer for years. He was not widely liked by the nobles of Evermeet, considered too young and frivolous to rule, but he held the throne briefly following the sacrifice of Amlaruil. He happily abdicated the throne back to his mother, and undertook the task of planting the Tree of Souls on the mainland. He has chosen a hidden valley far to the north, a place surrounded by incredibly inhospitable terrain. He will be kept very busy recruiting a following, subduing the land, and establishing the colony. His consort, a mostly-human woman named Maura, will probably prove to be equal parts help and hindrance. It is unlikely that their children will succeed him as ruler. Maura is a teenager, but she is also impulsive, a warrior, and a human. None of those things lend to an impressive life expectancy. It is likely that the elves tolerate her, believing that they can put up with her for a human's relatively short span. Lamruil will undoubtedly be urged to take an elven consort and produce suitable heirs - either before or after Maura's death. Or perhaps another form of government, one not based on monarchy or hereditary nobility, will evolve. One thing is certain: Lamruil will return to Evermeet to rule only if he feels the island has no other acceptible options. He would gladly throw his support behind a likely candidate for the throne. Like most of Toril's elves, however, he hopes that the end of Queen Amlaruil's reign will be very long in coming." |
| Old Sage03-10-07, 03:57 AM | For reference purposes... I'll note that the lore Isildrae posted above was from the quill of Elaine Cunningham. |
| MarkusTay6303-10-07, 07:05 AM | For anyone interested, I did a piece for the Elven Netbook that had a little something concerning Lamruil. It's in the first half of the article, and it's all unofficial, but at least it's something - Lamruil's Journal (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=11492562#post11492562) |
| Isildrae Kyuss03-10-07, 08:20 AM | Ah yes thanks for that Sage I knew I forgot something... And Markus brilliant - that's my reading over lunch sorted... |
