| Suin Bahhar11-23-07, 09:57 AM | This Lathander sect I want to put in my campaign are a secret clergy for Gargauth. It has similarities to the Pelor the Burning Hate story on the boards. I do remember reading about the Hands of Blinding Light somewhere. Deep within the light of the Sun Clergy, right in the most blinding spot festers a seed of Gargauth. The secret clergy called the Hands of Blinding Light plans on letting Lathanders clergy collect the relics of the morninglord in a grand mass corrupting ritual held by the leader of the Hands which makes Gargauth subsume Lathander mind unknowingly, and would seem as a failed attempt at a starting of the Dawn cataclysm. Then Gargauth plans on whispering on Lathanders vainness to make him stand closer to his followers at all times. Gargauth appears to Lathander and slyly cajoles him into making a deal he cannot refuse signing a contract that will make the sun stand still on Chessenta and the Eleusinium. The only way out is by following the "Healing Light" of the sect into a new Hell or accepting fiendish transformation against the heat. Soon the whole Chessentan and Untheric population accepts fiendish gifts and a new Hell on Fearun can only be stopped by a direct holy crusade. |

A trap consisting of your players known lore to create a sense of safety and then unveiling the new in all its mindboggling glory. Ever seen this thread (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=846926)? I got my inspiration from that and from the Movie the devils advocate. |

| Stigger11-25-07, 11:14 AM | Presumably because of his portfolio... it does kinda make him the god of long, drawn out sneaky seductions into evil... closest thing out there at least. |

He gains acces to alot of fearunian followers of Lathander by corrupting his clergy as he is known as a peoples god. And Lathander has a relatively small clergy in Cimbar that lead the dawn ceremonies of a large group of citizans of Cimbar. Lathander is also seen as the head of the Chessentan pantheon. By having his own infiltrated clerics openly revere the peoples god and preaching to people outside the temples of the Morninglord he can hold alot of influence in the local politics of the city of Cimbar. Also one of my players is a tiefling beguiler of Gargauth ^^. Gargauth has been very active in Chessenta and Unther in my campaign. I have the hands of blinding light on one (unrevealed) side and the Redeemers of Dawn (of CCIX fame) on the other side within the same clergy. So devils (Gargauths agents) are already openly "redeeming" themselves within lathanders church. In the near future my player can choose from the side of redeemed darkness or corrupted light. |
