In the year 390 DR, the Year of the Half-Moon, the city of Myth Lharast was established as a “pure” temple city, dedicated to Selūne only, rather than rather than the orthodox theocracy of Minsorran. The founders, who were devout Selūnites, only wanted to pay homage to the Lady of Silver, and no one else. Thus, they created their own city, which according to legends, stood five miles west of the Gem Road, in Amn. Syri Mhaal, one of the architects of the Mythal secretly altered the Mythal shortly after it was laid. The new spell weaved into it was meant to attract and control lycanthropes. Mhaal meant to one day overthrow the faltering Shoon Empire using the legion of lycanthropes that he would attract to the city. -In the year 720 DR, the Year of the Dawn Rose, the city of Myth Lharast was put under siege by hoards of evil lycanthropes, particularly werewolves. According to witnesses who say the destruction, the city was supposedly struck by multiple “lightning bolts from the moon”, and was wholly devastated. Some believe that Selūne herself sent the hoards of lycanthropes, and the “lightning bolts from the moon”. -The city was not actually destroyed, however. The truth behind what actually happened is a carefully guarded secret. Syri Mhaal was actually fighting a battle against the Cowled Conjurers, a local cabal of evil wizards. During the fighting, which raged through the streets of Myth Lharast, Syri exercised his control of all of the lycanthropes. Fate, however, would not let Mhaal achieve his goals. A faithful servant of the Moonmaiden, or perhaps Selūne herself, was able to alter the Mythal yet again. Before the conflict could spill out of the city, the entire city suddenly ceased to exist on the Material Plane, instead occupying it’s own Demiplane. |
