Does anyone know if there is any place with more info on Melvaunt's government then the FRCS and Mysteries of the Moonsea? I intend to run a political intrigue type of campaign in Melvaunt and would need a little more info on how the city state actually functions. Is there any judicial branch at all? Or does one of the lords function as a judge? If there is some kind of a judge are there lawyers of any type? I'm guessing the common man doesn't actually get a real chance for a trial but what about noblemen/merchants?

Also there are obviously three distinguished offices Lord Chancellor, Lord of Keys and Lord of the Waves held by Leiyraghon's, Bruils and a chap called Nurian (in order). Any clue who the last guy is allied with if anyone? Also am I right in assuming that the Lord Chancellor is in some way related to the treasury?

Also is it reasonable to assume that the three ruling families will be fairly homogenous alignmentwise? (i.e. Leiyraghon's good, Nanthers neutral and Bruil's evil) Or is this an oversimplification?
Thanks in advance for any ideas/knowledge,
Rawel

The 2e Moonsea supplement will provide you with some detailed info on the political structure of Melvaunt.

The adventure "Sons of Gruumsh" is based in Melvaunt, and does a great job at illustrating the various political tensions between the ruling noble families.

Thank you for all the replies. I can't seem to be able to find melvaunt on candlekeep but that's probbably just because I haven't yet found out where to look. I got my hands on the 2ed Moonsea and there is a little there. Looking forward to checking sons of Gruumsh later. Any idea of a real political intrigue like adventure out there? I'm thinking very little fighting mostly talking and playing with information.
Thanks again.:)

Oh, there's fighting! :D

They especially like to hire elite orc warriors for the dirty deeds! :D

(nuff said, that's enough hints! ;) )
