| Tiamat204-13-07, 10:56 AM | I posted some questions a while ago in the wrong forum, so I thought I'd migrate over to here. I am currently in the planning stages for a useless campaign (ie. one that will probably never go more than the planning stages) that will feature a Tethyrian noble supporting a Caranthal restoration in the Moonshaes, but I had some questions that maybe people familiar with the two Trilogies might be able to answer. 1. Did the former High King Reginald Caranthal have any heirs? I've heard some people say that Tristan Kendrick was his heir, but I thought Tristan was heir to the Kingdom of Corwell and had to travel to the High King's castle to have his throne confirmed. 2. How large is a reasonable size for the Moonshavian military? If my Tethyrian noble lands with a force of a thousand retainers and mercenaries (mostly displaced veterans of the lengthy Tethyrian civil war), would that be enough to defeat the Moonshavians? Army sizes in the FR are notoriously random; from Akanax's ridiculous 50,000 man force in the FRCS to the entire city of Waterdeep having a force that numbers under 2,000. 3. What types of ships do the Moonshavians use in their "navy"? I would assume some type of primitive carrack, but the FRCS isn't of much help. 4. Since the Earthmother is the only Goddess of any importance on the Moonshaes, is it reasonable to assume that some druids/clerics might support a Caranthal restoration or would our Tethyrian have to bring his own clerics? 5. Since only one city (and another site called Llewellyn) is listed as existing on the island of Alaron (Caer Callidyr), I assume I have pretty much carte blance in creating some coastal towns on the island. Are there any other significant towns/villages that don't appear on the FRCS map (I assume there are)? 6. This is just a question for people who might be able to interpret the FRCS map better than me, but is that marsh that dominates the southern parts of Alaron or swamp or something else? Thanks as always to anyone who can help. |
| Iakhovas04-13-07, 08:18 PM | 1. It is unknown if King Carrathal had any heirs. Tristan Kendrick was son to King Bryon Kendrick of Corwell. 3. The Ffolk primarily sea vessel is known as a coracle, and is little better than a barge. The Northmen primarily use longships. 5. The only major city on Alaron is Callidyrr. Smaller villages include the cantrevs of Blackstone, Ogden, Horsa, Blythe, Llwellyn, White Rock and Kythyss. Check out the old sourcebook FR2: Moonshae for more details. |

I tried to find that sourcebook, but couldn't, except in PDF form. I might have to breakdown and get the PDF, though I usually don't like PDF's that much. |
