| Crestar04-23-07, 07:46 PM | Myth Drannor, at one time the largest cities of ferun. I have heard that it has been reclaimed from the lady's pentiant books. Though, I can not find anymore info in core books. I plan on using this area in my game and would like to have the pc's take some help in reclaiming the area. So i would like to know some of the people involved. Any info would help. |

| Old Sage04-23-07, 07:58 PM | You also might want to keep an eye out for an article by George Krashos, in one of the final issues of DRAGON. |
| Crestar04-23-07, 08:32 PM | I know of the fall and history, what i was looking for was the newly reclaimed kingdom. |
| Old Sage04-23-07, 09:00 PM | Rich's "Last Mythal" books and Eric's "Cormanthyr" article both provide details on recent events in the region. |
| Lord Karsus04-25-07, 01:00 AM | -Yeah, that's about all of it... |
| ClobberinTime04-25-07, 05:59 PM | The most recent issue of Dragon (the one with the modron on the cover) takes the history of the Dalelands including Myth Drannor up until about mid 1375, through the events on Last Mythal and right up until the set up of Shadowdale, Scourging of the Weave. |
| Faraer04-25-07, 06:38 PM | That's "Cormanthor: War Amidst the Trees" in Dragon #354.I know of the fall and history, what i was looking for was the newly reclaimed kingdom. We've deliberately not been told much about it, as the plot is being developed in the forthcoming Shadowdale module and (?) future novels. |
| Crestar04-25-07, 07:47 PM | I read over some of the information, from what i can get it was a mercenary group that came and took over the land around Myth Drannor. Thus, they changed their name to the Army of Myth Drannor and have been trying to conquer old territory around the ancient city. But, to my understanding they have only made a small foot-hold with-in the city. They have been causing alot of problems for the drow of the area to my knowledge. The article mentions the leader and it escapes me at this point, but does anyone know more about him and his army's progress besides whats listed. |

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T READ "THE LAST MYTHAL" SERIES It definitely wasn't just a mercenary group with a small foothold. The city has been fully reclaimed and resettled by elves (mostly of Evermeet). The armies of Evermeet (with some allies) were led by Seiveril Miritar, a sun elf (iirc) Cleric of Corellon. The real hero of the story, though, is Araevin Tesshur, a wizard of Evermeet who saves the day by defying the stuffy mages of Evermeet. The whole conflict is instigated by the Fey'ri attempt to reclaim their ancestral lands (including Cormanthor). The Retreat is definitely over, and the Epilogue of the final novel shows a nearly fully restored Myth Drannor in 1380 DR. Araevin comments that some parts of the city may never be rebuilt, but that "Myth Drannor was a whole and living city again." |
| Questing GM04-27-07, 02:19 PM | Any reclaimation of Myth Drannor wouldnt be complete without the returning of the Crownblade...:) I wonder if the events currently in Myth Drannor are complying to the Srinshee's condition for her return....:D |

Yes, Myth Drannor is captured by the Fey'ri in DR 1374, and by DR 1380, Ilsevele is crowned the Coronal, but even with Araevin's comments, we don't know the entire extend as to how "resettled" Myth Drannor is. That comment coming from Araevin represents his opinion, as there are no hard facts to back it up. As such, we should be a little leery of them, as Araevin might not be aware of any potential dangers just waiting to be uncovered. |

Thus, sometime between DR 1374 and DR 1380, the Srinshee returned and awarded the blade to the Sun Elf. |

I didn't want to get too detailed with my comments, but at the same time didn't want to leave any doubt for the OP concerning who made up the Army of Myth Drannor. I knew however I phrased it, someone would catch something amiss.;) I gotta admit, this storyline pulled me out of a self-imposed Realms exile. I hadn't read any novels and hadn't gamed in the Realms in over a year and a half (maybe longer:thinks:). I'd been enjoying the ease of keeping up with a newer and smaller world (Eberron). The return of Myth Drannor... that was enough to get my head back in the game. I must say, the Year of Risen Elfkin moniker always had me suspecting this would happen. Of course, this may not be the end of it...or the heart of it, either. This makes me want to jump into a Dalelands/Cormanthor campaign based 1375 DR or later, just so I can see those snooty Golds, in their shiny armor, walking through Cormanthor again. They've been gone too long. I really look forward to seeing how the political situation plays out between the returning snobs of Evermeet, the Dales, and Sembia. The Eilistraeens--who may be gaining some ground-- how will they be tolerated? And the Vhaeraunites--how will they fair now, in light of their dramatic change of circumstances on multiple fronts? Their are a lot of seperate, yet interdependent, stories to be told under the boughs of Cormanthor; and most of them the kind of stories for which I've been hoping. |
