Need help with Theme for Spell Thematics for Character [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-11-07, 03:33 PM I am trying to figure out what kind of theme to use with the Spell Thematics feat for a character I have been struggling with for a while.

She is a Fey'ri Wizard who has fallen in love with a Celadrin Cleric/Bard of Finder Wyvernspur, to have that loved returned. She is a blood descendant of Malcanthet (a succubus child of the demon princess was an ancestor used in her family's creation. She is of the Aerolothi clan, which has a Swan emblem. She has also taken the spell thematic feat later in career after meeting the Celadrin, and has an alignment of CG with CN tendacies.

I have been trying to think of the perfect theme for her, but I still would like some help.

The Spell Thematics feat makes your spells harder to predict and counter as well as make one spell per caster level to be caster as if you were one level higher. It alters the visual aspects of spells to fit a theme like Lightning, Spheres, or Black Dragons.

08-11-07, 10:45 PM -I was going to suggest one of the creatures that Fey'ri believe themselves to have special affinities with- Swans, Phoenix, Pegasi, or Griffons. Since your character is an Aerolothi, why not choose 'Swan' as your Spell Thematic?

-Lightning bolts can look like a swan swimming through the air. Fireballs can look like a flaming swan, become exploding. And so on, and so forth.

08-12-07, 10:08 AM Well, I have posted this in different forums and gotten a couple of similar answers. The major one being the Swan connection of the Aerolothi, which is useful even to a disguised Fey'ri as there is the non-fey'ri elven branch of the family (Stated in Elves of Evermeet).

The two other major comments is a Demonic/Succubi theme due to her heritage or one linked to her love, a Celadrin making a Celestrial or harp theme possible (Since he is a cleric of Finder Wyvernspur). This as well as the Swan was also suggested by Chosen of Moradin on Candlekeep.

I was surprised at the comment of Swan feathers appearing like Sakura Blossums in anime, something to think about.

08-12-07, 11:29 AM Think I'd go with LK's interpretation personally... sounds more like what I use for a Sunite arcane devotee's spells, ruby-red lips that deliver all of her spells.
