I never really knew too much about Realms lore (enough to get me by, if I didn't know it, I'd look it up) and, obviously, I need some advice. There's an area north of the western heartlands and east of the sword coast on the "political boundaries" map and I was probably going to place this there, but I need to know if this backstory sounds okay. I think that large swamp in this region is the Lizard Marsh. I'm going to assume that there are Lizardfolk that live in the Lizard Marsh. Here's the backstory for this presented kingdom. Back when the High Forest was having some demon problems (I don't remember when exactly) a Lizardfolk exile was corrupted by the foul energies, gaining powerful abilities (Half-Fiend template, effectively.) He then returned and took over the Lizardfolk tribe he belonged to, then united the lot of them, making war upon the human settlements to the near east, beyond the hills. They were conquered and enslaved. In about 1015 DR, an elf from some location (probably the High Forest) traveled to this place (passing through, basically) but found an outlying mining camp. He and his companions freed this mining camp, and basically placed the idea of rebellion in someone's head. They helped liberate this region, but along the way, all of the Elves were killed, and this new small nation had its start somewhere around 1020 DR Now, this is a pretty standard and light backstory. I'm looking for ways to make it more in-depth, but especially, to link it to more realms lore than it currently is. |
