| Garzlik06-15-07, 06:47 AM | Does anyone know, or suspect, which archdevil, or perhaps deity, Nyphithys works for? I've checked Lords of Darkness and it doesn't say anything. Any help would be appreciated. |
| Shemeska the Marauder06-15-07, 08:57 AM | I'd suspect that she'd be working for one of the various Baatorian ministries (Mortal Affairs under Furcas of the Dark Eight, or maybe Research and Implimentation under Pearza) rather than one of the Lords of the Nine themselves. But that's just my opinion on the matter. Barring that, I'd be tempted to use Fierna or Levistus (just because I like them more). |
| Garzlik06-15-07, 09:04 AM | Alright...I wanted to create a half human/half-fiend (erinyes) character that works for the brotherhood. She wouldn't be a child of Nyphithys, but an associate Erinyes. The iffy thing about FR cosmology is you have to worship a deity or you go to the wall of the faithless and all that. She was going to be a sorcerer, eventually taking Diabolist to harness her infernal heritage, and to make her story run with the brotherhood, I was wondering which god or archdevil she should follow. Or does it really matter? Or, would she fit in with Gargauth? |

If she was going to work with anyone within the heirarchy of Baator, worshipping Gargauth probably wouldn't work, because he was exiled and while he arguably advances the overall goals of Baator without the Lords of the 9 having to dirty their hands, he's still an exile. Your half-fiend might worship Baator in general as an abstract, or one of the Lords of the 9 (or other members of the Baatorian nobility such as various dukes, etc). Either by having sold her soul to them, or simply by being LE by virtue of interaction with them, she'd be going to Baator after death anyway, rather than the Wall. Depends on the flavor of the character really, since each of the Lords of the 9 have their own unique flavor that might mesh better with some character personalities than others. |
| Gray Richardson06-15-07, 06:05 PM | The Brotherhood Arcane mostly worships Bane, with some also following Auril and/or Umberlee. Bane does have many devils in his service, so Nyphithys may actually work for Bane instead of Hell. Although, if she does work for Hell, I am kind of partial to Mammon, whose special interests are greed and lust. It strikes me that greed was a major motivation for his seeking immortality. And the lust part, well, it strikes me that Nyphithys serves Greeth in more than a strictly advisory capacity. Also, Furcas, as Shemmy mentioned above is another good choice. As minister of mortal relations, he is responsible for corrupting and making pacts with mortals, and has a huge contingent of erinyes under his command whose job it is to walk the world and "sign up" as many mortals as they can. |

Hmm, I thought erinyes were generally associated with Dispater? |
| Dargoth06-15-07, 06:23 PM | In my FR campaign Ive given Nyphithys the following updates and changes 1) Changed her from an Erinyes to a Pleasure Devil (FC2) 2) She was originally part of the Baazka's (The Pit Fiend who ruled Dragonspear castle the last time it was occupied by devils) harem a role should did not enjoy so when Daggerfords army got the better of the devils she fled and left Baazka to his fate 3) Arklem wasnt the first human she tried to corrupt with Lichdom. She originally tried to corrupt Gwydion pen Dafwyd (Court wizard of Daggerford) however he didnt take her up on the offer (he never knew her true nature) Nyphithy moved on but left Gwydion with a Tome detailing the process of how to achieve Lichdom 4) Both times Dragonspear castle has been occupied by Devils who owe alegience to the Arch devil Disipater |
