| Nolwelen10-13-07, 10:34 AM | Recently I bought the "The grand history of the Realms". After getting through the last few pages of the book I just stumbled across a lot of events which already must have taken place and about which I knew nothing before. Can you tell me about the official sources for information about this whole "We elves rebuild Myth Drannor .... again"-campaign? Or for the "Dragon rage, Sammaster was still alive and has been killed now for real"- thing? When did the Shades actually raise the Sakkors enclave from the bottom of the inner sea? What have they done to the weave that deals damage to the chosen of Mystra? The last FR event Im informed about in a sufficient way was the death of Khelben and the creation of Rhymanthiin, since I have read the book "The Blackstaff". I had no idea of the events involving the Zhents, the once has been Iron Throne, the sembian civil war or the thayan civil war. Where do I get this information from? Do I realy have to read all the novels? Well there are other things about which I have questions, but I bet you do have these questions as well considering the events that dont have taken place yet. P.S.: I have actually recognized I probably dwelt a little too long in the underdark. |

Or for the "Dragon rage, Sammaster was still alive and has been killed now for real"- thing? -The Year of the Rogue Dragons Trilogy. When did the Shades actually raise the Sakkors enclave from the bottom of the inner sea? -The Twilight War Trilogy. What have they done to the weave that deals damage to the chosen of Mystra? -The 3-part FR Superadventure. ...the sembian civil war... -The Twilight War Trilogy. or the thayan civil war... -The...Thayan Trilogy? I don't remember the name of the series. Do I realy have to read all the novels? -Not unless you want the full scoop. |

| Nolwelen10-14-07, 01:28 AM | Thanks for the replies guys, but I guess these answers indicate that I do have to read the novels? Oh boy, keeping up with FR lore seems to be a full time job. |

But I'm quite sure some of that lore was just added in and not from any novel (like the Iron Throne vs. Baldur's Gate soap opera). |

Guess I'm just lazy that way... :D lazy? hardly. pragmatic perhaps, even financially competant. keeping all the gamers on their toes and making bold shifts may be good or bad writing, but it's also clever marketing. ie)buy more books, be in-the-know. i mean, damn, who has time to keep up w/ all the text, really? there are so many other good authors out there, it's a shame to gloss over them to focus specifically on RPG stuff solely. i know the forums are a poor 2nd, but they afford you more time to do other things...like have a life. you'd have to be a serious book worm to stay current and even then, it's gonna' get awash in all the text and jumbled up inevitably in that grey matter. pick and choose the choice books/authors, peruse the boards here for the rest. even then, i'd still only recommend adopting mabye 50% for your home campaigns as too much seems to conflict; writers are considering the other writers or their immense planetary punch they're "work" has had. |

It's not that hard! |
| Stigger10-17-07, 01:11 AM | Well, yes, but you are The Archmage for a reason you know... ;) :D |
| Alediran10-17-07, 09:14 AM | It's not that hard. I have a full-time job, read a lot/play videogames, participate on these boards and have a life with a girlfriend who will move to live with me on december. |
