Something about her having a perfect blend of all the good attributes of all three races, with very few of the drawbacks (if any). I'm thinking that one of her parents was a half-elf and the other orc, though can't remember for sure.

AMGriffin 09-01-07, 01:36 AM	Arrayan was probably more like only 1/8 or 1/16 elf. She also might have been the child of two half-orcs, as opposed to a human and an orc. Either way, back on topic. If an elf and an orc bred (if they even can in Faerun) the result would be rather...odd. Something along the lines of sinewy pale green/gray skinned being with a sort of feralness too it. I homebrewed an elf/orc race before. For simplicity's sake, you could take a wood elf, add darkvision, lower the skill bonuses to listen, search, and spot, and remove the keen senses ability/weapon proficiences and call it an elf/orc crossbreed.
Suin Bahhar 09-01-07, 08:30 AM	If you go with a succesful breeding make the child sterile. Normally there would be no chance of getting a halfbreed orc/elf. (Add a mad biomancy mage and anything is possible)

Suin Bahhar 09-01-07, 05:14 PM	I personally didn't like the way Tolkien linked orcs and elves (uruk hai as corrupted elves) and as a consequence ignore many creation myths of races. I prefer to make most fantasy demihumans evolve from earlier protoforms. Maybe clergy from demihumans got fancy creation stories being formed by their respective gods but I write those off as just that: stories made to glorify the supposedly divine shape of the bodies of the respective races. Gruumsh and his pantheon come from Fearie in your creation myths as I can remember them. He used to be Corellons brother? Dont like that at all. Orcs are worthy enough to be formed indepently of elves. That they came to Faerun through a portal on a dark planet via the orcgate wars makes them even more independant from elves. Mind you this is all as my personal view. The real stories you got inspiration from (mainly Sigurd's myths and norse legends) depict alves and dwarfs who very much resemble the elves in fearun and D&D but are not as freely interchangable. Maybe I ought to read those stories myself... P.S. Markus could you PM me the names of the works you used to devize all those wacky and great stories about origins of the Fey, Alves and Norse pantheon
