02-24-07, 07:26 PM We assume that Osse is one of the "unknown lands" marked on the world map on pg. 231 in the FRCS... likely the larger continent at the bottom SE of the map itself.

All we know about the land itself has been revealed in Lady of Poison. Aside from a few obvious examples in the book, I wouldn't say that Osse is a direct translation of, or heavily influenced by, Australian Aborigine culture -- Gunggari's mannerisms aside (as well as his dizheri), the supposed "ways" of the Osse people could very well be associated with many other examples of Polynesian tribal cultures.

I always thought the actual name "Osse" was a bit of a joke as a matter of fact...

Why do you say assume? Based on Lady of Poison don't we know Osse is an unmarked land

02-24-07, 08:25 PM Yes. Though, there has been no "official" confirmation about which "unknown land" Osse is. We assume, based on the details given in the novel and what was marked on pg. 231 in the FRCS, that it *is* one of these unmarked lands.

02-24-07, 09:12 PM The half canon lore is that the continent north of Maztica is called Anchrome and the big continent south of it was called Katashaka, the isle west of them was called Myrmydune so this leaves out the big continent mentioned by Old Sage and the two big isles covered by the polar ice caps (unlikely) and the isle similar in shape to Madagascar (maybe but again unlikely)

As I recall, they also expanded upon them using several real-world cultural influences, and fleshed out a little of the region's pantheon.

I'll look through the archives for the specific posts.

I'll post here when it will be something more than a bunch of wordsNow that I finished my Silver Marches Map, I was going to work on a map of Katashaka, but using the full set of rules from Nyambe, as has been suggested by Ed himself (I think, I read it at CK somewhere). In those rules some of the races need to be moved around to fit better with FR, and I figure while I'm playing with it I might as well apply all of that to a map that is more consistent with the outline of Katashaka.

I found a great topographical map of Anchorome HERE, (http://hiddenway.tripod.com/images/maps/) if its any help to you.

Also, when Brian James's book comes out at the end of the year, a lot of what he has postulated I would assume will become canon, and we will have our 'official' names for the various other land masses.

02-27-07, 11:35 PM according to the City of Gold accessory/module the lands north of the place "Anachrome" is filled with Kreen nations...

Nations / Empires of the Insectoid races would be unique and somewhat scary for the rest of Toril, hmmmm don't the insectoid races like the Kreen consider elves a tasty snack ???
