I am interested in starting an evil campaign, and I am looking for evil organizations with setups that would explain the players not cheating, killing, plotting against each other.

One nice example seems church of bane/zhentarim.

Any more?

There are others, but those two I think are the best for a party focused organization to join, or begin play with.

Most others are either exotic, require some stretch of the imagination to implement, or are two epic/ secretive to properly be considered a part of.

The Zhentarim are essentially the Anti-Harpers of the realms, so for easy conversion from good to evil that is the simplest step :)

I ran a campaign in which all the PCs were members of a small cell of the Cult of the Dragon and it worked well.

Just because someone is evil doesn't mean that they're an axe murderer. A PC or NPC can be evil and still be a productive member of society. Also, evil doesn't mean plot against each other. Look at the old Nazi Party from Germany or the Galactic Empire from Star Wars, they certainly worked well together. Simply instruct the players not to try and kill each other. As far as evil organizations go, there are those new Thayan Enclaves popping up everywhere...

Most Churches of sane deities would hire pc-s: anyone from Bane and Loviatar to Hextor and Tiamat.

Twisted Rune and Red Wizards can hire pc-s, albeit the former would do it secretly. Hell, most organizations with sane leaders can hire any kind of pc-s if they do what the organization sees as good for it.

Check out champions of ruin, its full of evil organizations. Also check out hordes of the abyss their is a cool cult dedicated to the scrolls of ahm that could be interesting. Tome of Magic alsoo has several shadow based organizations in it. Look around they are everywhere, if you dont see them you may get a dagger in the back at any moment.

Tbh I dont really think that there is such a thing as evil or good in the real world.

Sometimes I am really tempted to limit those denominations to non humanoids only, especially outsiders.

-How about the Eldreth Veluuthra. Each cell mostly contains members of the same family. Blood runs thicker than water.

-Sure there is. Society dictates what is good and what is evil.

Exactly, that is why it is only human delusion and not a true element of life.

-But, it is there, is it not?

Exactly, that is why it is only human delusion and not a true element of life.

It exists, it's just subjective. Like "clumsy". The definition of "clumsy" differs depending on to whom one is talking to, but that doens't mean it doesn't exist.

How about the Xanathar's Guild?

@cato: I think you want them evil, without being seriously chaotic evil.
Although, if lets say, you start them all at a somewhat higher level, their working together to achieve greatness(at the cost of everyone else), could well be explained away.

... They could start as friends at lower levels too. Together with a common goal that they believe in.
(and later, if someone does have an external, DM provided opportunity or reason to back-stab the team, that too is part of being evil... don't give the team serious reasons to betray each other, if you don't want to)

I am running an evil campaign based out of Zhentil Keep too with the party operating as a normal adventuring party but they report to someone in the Zhentarim and are given missions to do for them when needed and when they don't have a mission they can do whatever adventuring they want to do. Things the Zhents want done but don't want to be associated with having a hand in it. It works well because they are basically in the military so it keeps them from in-fighting and plotting against one another for the most part.
