| 18DELTA11-07-07, 04:16 AM | http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/drfe/20071107a Very interesting.:D So what do you guys think? |
| Bullet0632011-07-07, 04:45 AM | Interesting article, I can see a lot of potential in an adventure and the ensuing chaos |
| goldomark11-07-07, 07:53 AM | The trio made me think of Bane, Myrkul and Bhaal. |
| Aldareth11-07-07, 08:07 AM | the dark three are bane, bhaal and myrkul or why else should the lost god hunt the church of bane down if it get free? |
| Halidan11-07-07, 09:42 AM | So what do you guys think? Wow...information about Haask, Voice of Hargut after all this time. How soon before we find out what's been happening with Maram of the Great Spear, Borem of the Lake of Boiling Mud and Camnod the Unseen??? I can't wait. :D |
| Rauric11-07-07, 09:54 AM | I liked the picture of the Keep on the waterfall. It gave me an idea for a location for my campaign. |
| 18DELTA11-07-07, 01:41 PM | I liked the article alot. How much real info is really out there on Ironfang Keep? Brian R James, great work!:) |
| Suin Bahhar11-07-07, 02:06 PM | Indeed. I like it, Mr James. The lore seemed abit scattered though. I like the reference to giant and minotaur kingdoms and the dark gods Bhaal Myrkul and Bane meddling with such giant creatures. Those were those three figures on the throne of Haask, right? :D Oh and icing on the cake! Biomancy and grafting going on within those huge halls. Tickles my fancy just right! |
| 18DELTA11-07-07, 02:23 PM | Hargut was an antediluvian horror from the Far Realm that manifested on the Toril as a colossal worm-like creature with a giant-sized mouth filled with layer upon layer of razor sharp teeth. Hargut’s skin is sickly green and semi-transparent with red sores visible beneath the surface. Haask, once an elder doppelganger, is now a symbiont (Fiend Folio) fused to the outer flesh of the undying Hargut. Through their symbiotic relationship the former priest-king grants a degree of lucidity and intelligence to the otherwise mindless Hargut. It is unclear if the two would survive if they were separated for a period of time, if possible at all. Notice on the Toril(boldadded)? Notice the references to the Far Realms? I wonder how much the Far Realms will play in the 4E Realms? I promise to not go off on another tangent, like I did last week!:D |
| Stigger11-07-07, 04:57 PM | Not sure how I feel about it... its the Far Realms, which I don't like on principle, but it is an intriguing article despite that. |
| eridalafar11-07-07, 05:38 PM | I wonder how much the Far Realms will play in the 4E Realms? Look at the elder evil book incoming...... Eridalafar |
| 18DELTA11-07-07, 06:08 PM | Look at the elder evil book incoming...... Eridalafar Right! :coolcthul Are they coming soon to the Realms near you?:coolcthul |
| BadCatMan11-07-07, 06:51 PM | That is just great. And it's got one of the Lost Gods! Though there goes my idea for Haask, The Voice Of Hargut as a Turami song demon-god, ala that musical Buffy episode, where I was going to make my PCs sing their way through the adventure. :( |
| Iakhovas11-07-07, 09:01 PM | Thanks for the feedback guys. It was great fun writing the article and I hope to have more opportunities to contribute to the Realmslore column in the future. If you have any specific questions about the article please direct them to the message boards on Candlekeep.com and I'll be happy to answer them. |
| 18DELTA11-07-07, 09:34 PM | Now if only I could get some maps for the Keep. That would rock as a dungeon crawl. Hmm... Goodman games just put out that super dungeon crawl adventure. A little bit of reflavoring, and I would be all set!:D Castle Whiterock (http://www.goodmangames.com/5050preview.php) as Ironfang Keep. |
| selunatic239711-08-07, 06:40 PM | Interesting yes, but I think I prefer to have some mysteries left to the realms... It kind of seems to be a bone thrown to us to still the 4ED grumbles here in the forums... By the time 4ED hits will there be any mysteries left ? |
| Old Sage11-08-07, 06:49 PM | There will still be plenty of "mysteries" left unexplored in the future Realms. Even now, in 3e, we know of plot hooks and mysteries that still exist and have existed in this fashion since the original Ol' Grey Box. Don't dismiss the possibility of new mysteries being created in current Realmslore either. Certainly, we've seen more than a couple with the published lore in 3e, which still remain "unexplored." And they'll likely continue to remain so, potentially providing game designers with new and interesting ways to elaborate on pre-existing sections of the Realmslore. |
