I have tried searching the boards about this, but it didn't quite answer my question.

How are you, as a DM, handling players that have this feat and their gold cache if they are creating PC above level 1?

Are you saying that they have an extra amount of gold to use? Maybe equal to a character one level higher? A fixed amount?

Are you allowing them to puchase x number of item(s) at a lowered cost?

How, gaming- and experience wise, are you doing it?

Best regards,

Ummm. .. I'd allow the +2 bonus to appraise checks and the +2 bonus to craft or profession.

I don't really see what this has to do with gp value.. ...

Oohhhhh, you're talking about the one from the PGtF.

I'd add the 300 gp, give them one item at 75% the cost because they're going to use that on the most powerful magic item they can get their hands on and that, IMO, might be too unbalancing for the cost of just a single feat.

Or, alternatively, I'd allow them to pick up any mundane (nonmagical) item at 75% off and they'd have to pay full price for magic items.

I'd probably go for the latter, as I'm not a big fan of the "magic items walmart" D&D has moved towards. :)

There are lots of creative ways you can deal with extra player gold without them realizing you are. Pickpockets, Character Out of Pocket Expense increase (for example I had a character buy a brand new magical breastplate from a trade enclave which he immediately lost to a jelly). One time I knew a character who had just spent a load of gold after a long adventure only to lose all of his gear and wealth to a Deck of Many Things. The possibilities go on and on, and there are many things in the game which can force characters to cough up.
