| Mad_Mickelson01-25-08, 07:40 AM | I'm gonna be starting a new campaign in the FR (could there be any other), some where around Waterdeep and Baldur's Gate, prolly somewhere south of BG though. (more familiar in that area) Here's the question: How long would it take to travel from BG to WD or vice versa, using the main highway between the towns??? Suppose from CandleKeep to BG it looks to be around 120 miles from the map sheet that came with the PC game years ago, I'd guess that would take a Tenday or so to traverse assuming that no encounters take place and its all smooth sailing, would that sound about right ??? |

Then, look in the DMG, to the page that talks about movement and distance and all that stuff for a cart, horse, ox, feet, or whatever you are using. Calculate, and there you go. |

Judging from that I wonder how big the world of Aber-Toril is in relation to earth, just the mapped part of Faerun (on this map) seems to be about the size of Australia or the North American continent Cheers man |

The continent of Faerūn (and not Kara-Tur or Zakhara, which are both connected to it) is supposed to be about twice the size of North America, so... |

Don't know if that jibes with the DMG, but it is realistic. I know a guy who walked from Brooklyn to Port Jeff, Long Island, in about 12 hours, and thats around 50 miles - I figure most people will only be traveling around 8-10 hours a day, before stopping to rest or make camp. |

I just removed the ego portion of my signature because I felt it was getting a bit big, and I didn't have enough room to give KtM a tribute. I still have the MS Word document with all of the good things said about me, going 8 pages strong now. :) As a rule of thumb, I just figure 30 miles a day, 50 by horse. During the blackout, my cousin walked from our aunt's house in Flushing Meadows back to his house off of Prospect Park, and it took him about 4-5 hours. |
