Scardale Town or a place called confusion [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-04-07, 12:47 AM since my group is going in this direciton in the hope to catch an ennemy I was looking into my books for some infos and there is a big contradiction

in the Volo's guide to Dalelands they talk about a magic disease combined with physical disease that decimate the population of Scardale Town and that Lizardmen (who were not affected by the disease) came into the town to kill and eat as much as people as possible

back in the FRCS book, there is no mention at all of this except that the Shaking Plague hit mostly the Sembian garrison

so what I must believe now??

do you have more specific information about this and is there a map detaliing Scardale Town somewhere???

09-04-07, 06:07 AM Look in the Forgotten Realms Atlas (CD-ROM). You can geta pretty good map there. As for the Information. Look at the dates (D.R.) each were wrote Go with the most current

For the map, see FRS1 The Dalelands, FRE2 Tantras or the Forgotten Realms Interactive Atlas. All out of print, the books available as PDFs from Paizo.com, the CD-ROM scarce.

but if we compare the stories in Volo's Dalelands and FRCS there is a big difference

they do not mention the Lizardmen attack during the Shaking Plague in the FRCS...is it because they didn't cause that much damage or because authors in FR have a problem with continuity?

09-05-07, 10:47 AM The FRCS is a summary; summaries by their nature don't include every detail. By not mentioning the vast majority of things that have happened in Scardale, it isn't thereby claiming they didn't happen.

Both sources are purposely vague about the extent of the plague. There are plenty of contradictions in Realmslore; this isn't one.

I guess that the area of Scardale is the type of place left out for the DM to imgaine whatever he wants
