| SATA08-11-07, 09:31 PM | I can't remember neither find any EPIC BARD in the Realms. I wanna know, and if possible see his/her stat block, of any BARD who have reach EPIC levels. |
| Alleran08-11-07, 10:05 PM | Storm and Dove both have some bard levels, if that's what you're asking. Or are you talking about actually getting the Bard class into Epic levels? |
| SATA08-12-07, 10:00 PM | I can't remember neither find any EPIC BARD in the Realms. I wanna know, and if possible see his/her stat block, of any BARD who have reach EPIC levels. I thought I was explicit enough  |
| Galad08-12-07, 10:12 PM | Cylyria Dragonbreast, one of the leaders of the Harpers in Berdusk. In 2nd edition she was a 26th level bard IRC. Don't know if she has 3rd edition stats or not. |
| Suin Bahhar08-13-07, 09:27 AM | Finder Wyvernspur is a recently ascended mortal who was a bard by the dame of "the Nameless Bard". He must have been epic before ascending. |
| selunatic239708-13-07, 10:36 AM | Being that I play 1st edition, the only offering I have is an actual 23rd level Bard...real old school...still in play...but has recently been reincarnated as a child...:D But, I don't think this is what you want... I hear Bard and think of the 1st edition version... In 3.whatever, a Bard seems to be what I would call a triple classed fighter/magic user/thief... I think Storm Silverhand, Mintiper Moonsilver, or Cylyria Dragonbreast are the only Bards around who would stat out as EPIC in a conversion to 3.whatever. Good Luck in your quest! The Realms always needs Bards!:) |
| SATA08-15-07, 02:01 AM | Thank you all. From all the above the only one I know that take BARD to EPIC levels is Cylyria Dragonbreast, and she don't have stats in 3e or 3.5e that I can't think of so the search ends with no good results, but again, thank you all. |
| Green Elven Vampire08-15-07, 02:16 AM | Mintipur Moonsilver, a half elven bard is my fave. |
| creyzi4zb1208-15-07, 08:27 AM | Aren't most of the Harpers bards? Storm and Dove I think are high levels. |
| Rautherimnon08-15-07, 11:13 AM | Supposedly, Nyengu (sp?) is hinted at to be a low-epic half-orc bard in Vaasa. |
| SATA08-15-07, 02:17 PM | Dove and Storm have some BARD levels and yes, most of the Harpers have some BARD levels too... ...but I'm looking for NPCs with +21 levels of BARD, meaning taking BARD to EPIC levels and hopefully with his/her/their stat block. Cylyria Dragonbreast have +21 levels of BARD but in 2e but I haven't see her stats in 3e or 3.5e. Mintiper Moonsilver and Nyengu (sp?), I haven't see their stat block either. Finder Wyvernspur, if I recall correctly, the knowledge of him as a mortal was erase so maybe just a handful of powerful NPCs remember him being a mortal once and by game mechanics his stat block may be fill with 1e or 2e rules, so not very helpful after all. Thank you all anyway. |
| dragonheart08-16-07, 09:47 AM | Finder was originally created under 2e rules and was stated as a 23 level bard when he was stripped of his name and placed in his prison. He was one of the original Harpers along with Elminster, Khelben and others. I'm not sure if his stats were ever redone in 3.x as he was on his return and before ascending to deity status but if they are he would be your best bet. |
| ShadezofDis08-16-07, 10:07 AM | ...but I'm looking for NPCs with +21 levels of BARD, meaning taking BARD to EPIC levels and hopefully with his/her/their stat block. What's the point of this exercise? To see what an epic bard looks like? If so, then just stat one out. You can also look in the various "post your PC" "NPCs of the Realms" ect. Threads, I'm guessing that someone's posted an epic bard. |
| Zandilar08-18-07, 08:10 AM | Heya, Being that I play 1st edition, the only offering I have is an actual 23rd level Bard...real old school...still in play...but has recently been reincarnated as a child...:D But, I don't think this is what you want... I hear Bard and think of the 1st edition version... In 3.whatever, a Bard seems to be what I would call a triple classed fighter/magic user/thief... I, too, share your love of the 1st Edition Bard... However, I should point out that a 1st Ed Bard was essentially a Fighter/Thief/Druid - which is not too different. This is quite possibly why Bards in consequent editions had healing spells on their lists, because they could heal in 1st Edition. (Mind you, the Druid part of the class was actually Bard - but the book basically says they leave off their studies of the ways of thievery and begin to train as druids, but are actually bards under druidic tutelage.) If you ever do come to play 3rd (whatever ;)) Edition, I would suggest the alternate PrC version of the Bard presented in (the 3rd Edition version of) Unearthed Arcarna. It is far closer to its 1st Ed roots. I am rather surprised by the apparent dearth of people who kept up their bardic training in the Realms. Bards are very versatile to begin with, and to multiclass them only dilutes that. (On the subject of playing "Epic" level Bards, I had a Bard who hit her low 20s by campaign's end in 2nd Edition. :)) |
| The Simbul08-18-07, 02:02 PM | Dove Falconhand was never a Bard. In 2E AD&D Dove was a 14th level Ranger, who through dualclassing had also previously been and retained the abilities of a 9th level Mage and a 5th level Thief. In 3E/3.5 D&D Dove is a ranger 14/sorcerer 9/rogue 4/Harper scout 1. Her classes were largely kept as is in the conversion, despite her being a multiclassed character1, in order to allow her total character level comparable to her other sisters. The closest Dove would ever come to being comparable to a bard is by virtue of her having ranks in the Perform (string) skill, by owning and often using Dove's harp, and by possessing the Harper knowledge class feature. Storm Silverhand bears the title of "the bard of Shadowdale", however the path of the bard it is only one of the adventuring routes she has taken. In 2E AD&D Storm was a 22nd level Bard who through dualclassing had also previously been and retained the abilities of a 9th level Mage, 7th level Fighter, and 5th level Thief. In 3E/3.5 D&D Storm Silverhand is a rogue 1/fighter 4/sorcerer 12/bard 8/Harper scout 3. Her classes were crunched down using the character conversion rules for multiclass/dual classed characters1, causing them all to be reduced by 1/3 and then allowing the creator/converter to tweak them by redistributing levels from one class into another in order for the character to retain as many signature abilities as possible. Because many of Storm's "favorite spells" (as noted in The Seven Sisters) were no longer on the bard class spell list, her sorcerer (formerly "mage") levels were increased to give her greater access to these spells. Hence the reason she is no longer a "primary bard" As for the overall issue of finding epic level bards in the realms, you have the dual dilemma of there being very few epic level bards in the previous edition of the game, combined with the dilemma that afflicted Storm, as in the class had changed quite a bit in the conversion to 3E and 3.5, and therefore NPCs may find themselves either multiclassed more heavily in other professions to retain previous known spells. Mintiper Moonsilver for example has been interpreted differently by different authors in different publications in terms of his bard levels in 3.5. He is a fighter 5/rogue 5/bard 9 in Lost Empires of Faerūn, and becomes a bard 19 in City of Splendors: Waterdeep (he also suffers from some curious alterations of race as well). 1See the 2E->3E conversion guide for details on how multiclassed/dualclassed characters are supposed to be converted |
| SATA08-20-07, 01:07 PM | Thank you all. |
