| nightside_samurai07-31-07, 04:56 PM | I'm going to be running a Drow based game in the Underdark for a group of outcasts who want to build their own place and eventually have a town and so on. Do any of you know of any places in the Underdark that are relatively quiet on the Drow front but close enough to a big city that they can steal supplies or slaves and so on? Thank you! :D |

BUT There is a place that has decrepit buildings called meryiamadra(sp?) do to the war of the spiderqueen... you can do that campaign "City of the Spiderqueen" and have them clear the whole area and start from there!!! |

| Lord Karsus08-01-07, 08:40 PM | -Do you have the 3e sourcebook Underdark? It has a nice map, and enough information on most locations on the map to get you started. If you really want to delve deep, no pun intended, into the lore, pick up Drizzt Do'Urden's Guide to the Underdark, a 2e sourcebook. |

A narrow pass runs along a lake in the Upperdark. A crafty drow could set up shop there, control the lake and the pass around it. Just a little bit north of the Vault of Conjured Madness and about 180 miles east of the nearest volcanic activity, you should eventually be able to build up something nice and profitable, especially with a nearby water supply*. With few rival settlements around, you shouldn't have to worry about major wars anytime soon. There's also an abyss to the south called the Pit of Jhaam. Your nearest neighbor is Dunspeirren, the City of Sunken Spires. A bunch of militaristic psionic Duergar can be a headache, but it might be awhile before they know you're there. Right overhead is the Dragon Coast and the Shining Plains. A twisty little maze of passages should lead you to either one, then just follow that same little maze of twisty passages back home. With no central government, the Dragon Coast should be easy pickings, if you don't mind cutthroat citizenry taking matters into their own hands (read: tons of opportunity for adventure). Downpayments start at one incredibly dishy drow male, must be obedient, healthy without too many whip marks, and good in the sack.;) *Although of decent size on the map, the lake doesn't seem to have a name. I wonder what might be found in it's depths? |

| Shiftkitty08-03-07, 05:09 PM | Shh! I'm trying to sell this guy a plot of land! :D Yeah, you're gonna draw "interested parties" looking to take away what you've got. Reminds me a lot of the junior high I went to. If you managed to find a spot to sit quietly and read away from the punks and jerks and other pubescent low-lifes, it wouldn't be long before they'd find it and do their damndest to destroy your sanctuary for you. You learned to get mean and vicious to defend what you had. (Rough school, trust me.) That's sort of how I see life in the Underdark. It's like one big school campus where everybody's either a bully or a victim. But this little spot I found on the map can be quite defendable depending on how creative you get. ON THE OTHER HAND... It's quite possible that there's a reason nobody's set up shop here before now *cough* cloakers *cough*... |
