Starmantle and Nathlekh [Archive] - Wizards Community

01-05-08, 04:10 PM Ok, I have a campaign that is currently taking place in the area of Starmantle and Nathlekh (also within the Gulthmere forest.) Reason being, they recently used the porta in Ilimar, the ruined yaun-ti and Naga city in Dambrath (Shining South) which ends up in the western reaches of the Gulthmere Forest.

So, I've looked in my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd editions of the my campaign material, The 1E and 2E of the Vilhon Reach supplement, Pirates of the Fallen Stars (can't find my Sea of the Fallen Stars supplement if I ever had it) and they only peripherally mention Nathlekh (3E Faiths and Pantheons mentions Nathlekh briefly in the write-up of Nobanion.)

Anyone know of any specific supplement I can look for on e-bay or somewheres else that specifically details these two towns?

01-05-08, 08:35 PM Starmantle:- Both Twilight Falling and Dawn of Night feature lore on Starmantle. As does Ed's Temptation of Elminster. See also Pirates of the Fallen Stars and Sea of Fallen Stars, which have some lore, as does 2e's Vilhon Reach [which is available as a free PDF download at WotC:- http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/downloads].

Nathlekh:- See the 2e Vilhon Reach tome... as well as the 3e Shining South sourcebook [there's only a one sentence reference in there as I recall though]. Also, see Nobanion's entry in the 2e Powers and Pantheons deity book for more on the city.

"According to the Nobanion entry in Power's and Pantheons, "Nathlekh, City of
Cats, is located at the western end of the Gulthmere Forest and the northern
edge of the Shinging Plains on the banks of the Lake of the long Arm.
Overrun with felines of all breeds, this city is loosely governed by the
Council of Cat Lords. Numerous wemics, werelions, and weretigers are
citizens of Nathelkh in addition to the mysterious Cat Lords who rule. Twin
temples of Nobanion and Sharess dominate the religious activity of the city,
although a temple of Malar the Beastlord is rumored to exist in the city's
catacombs.

You just sorta regurgitated all the sources I have on Nathlekh. There really isn't much at all. Although all the info on wemics, werelions, and weretigers running about the city must be from 2e Power's and Pantheons because it certainly isn't part of the 3e source on Nobanion.

I'll have to look up Twilight Falling and Dawn of Night however.

Yes, and I already have to a large extent. But sometimes its nice to have a few details to build upon.

If you want to go further, there was an excellent "Ecology of" article in the May 1990 issue of DRAGON on wemics that dealt with their culture, as did Elminster's Ecologies: The Battle of Bones, Hill of Lost Souls supplement [in the "Hill of Lost Souls" portion of the supplement, specifically]. Aside from perhaps a random tidbit located in a magic items lore somewhere that I can't recall, that's about it.

I just got a new cat (my first ever) and the kids named it "Mary Jane Little Black Happy Feet Murphy Falafel Pants" but we just call it Little Black (even though its a Calico). Don't ask.

-Yeah my cat, is a little doll. When I come home from work, the little freak goes to the bathroom. Wait's for me to open the door, jumps up to the sink and wait's for me to turn the water on so she can drink some water. Nevermind the little thing has a water dish already. My sister named her Kitty Babe when she found her on the streets around 2 years ago.:D Yeah CAT'S RULE, dogs are cool too. Just to simple for this Leo.:cool:

I loved Thundarr the Barbarian (1980), and then the next thing I liked as much was Pirates of Dark water (1991), but in between, I spent a lot of time in clubs all night and sleeping all day, so I have no idea where my knowledge of these shows came from.

The whole 80's are kind of a blur... :rolleyes:
