| msatran02-18-08, 06:38 PM | Yes. That's right. In my zeal to produce a really cool D+D game in Amn and Tethyr, I remembered the ultimate FR continuity error. In Dungeon #38, Dungeon Adventures published an adventure titled "A Blight on the Land.' This adventure featured the sinister manipulations of Lord Inselm Hhune, one of the meanest, nastiest members of the Knights of the Shield. The module statted him out as one of the toughest characters ever seen in Dungeon. He was Fighter 15, and that was then. Though the module kind of ****ed up. It said he was a "Devious, Subtle Schemer."--however, he will leap over the table to attack the PC's once he realizes his plans have been foiled.--??? Unfortunately, they also put a Ring of Human Influence on his finger. So, when the PC's came in, he Charmed the merchant council and forced the PC's to dispel it. When they tried dispelling it, he shouted "Assassins! Aid me, aid me!" and his invisible red wizard ally cast fireball on the council chamber AND the PC's. :)" So now, instead of Lord Hhune, beloved son of Tethyr and secret master of the Knights of the Shield, I have Lord Hhune, Tethyr's most wanted criminal, and secret master of the Knights of the Shield. Two years later, Elaine Cunningham picked up Lord Hhune, and made him completely different, having never read the module. Unfortunately, I ran the module before Elaine ever wrote a word about him. :) So, we have two canon versions of the same character, which is almost as amusing as Lord Karsus. I should change my name to Hhune the Greater to reflect the vast difference in Fighter levels. |
| Khaelieth02-18-08, 06:56 PM | Yeah, he got statted as an expert 9 or something in Lords of Darkness 3ed |
| msatran02-18-08, 07:07 PM | Well, now he's Fighter 12/Vengance Knight 5/EWM 1. Have a nice day. :) |
| Suin Bahhar02-18-08, 07:21 PM | Brilliant! |
| msatran02-18-08, 08:42 PM | Actually, if you guys like, I'll statblock him, since I'm going to need him soon anyway. :) Lord Inselm Hhune. NE Male Tethyrian Human Fighter 12/Exotic Weapon Master 1/Vengance Knight 5 CR 19* (Lord Hhune has the equipment equal to a PC of his level rather than an NPC, his hit points are rolled rather than average, his stats are higher than normal...etc);Medium Humanoid; HD 18d10+126 (274 HP), Init +11, SPD 30 AC 34, (Tch 27, Flat Footed 29); Base Attack +18;Grp +27; Atk: +37 Melee (1d10+24, +5 Adamantine Human Bane, Elf Bane Flaming Burst Bastard Sword), or +29 Ranged (+4 Mighty (+9 STR Bonus) Composite Longbow, Acid Burst, Thundering, Full Attack: +32/27/22/17 (Includes 5 points of Power Attack, which brings his damage bonus up to +15 more if you use the rules as written, or 1d10+39. The rule I use says power attack works like Strength, so this becomes only 1d10+34 (He is an exotic weapon master), but it's still really awful.) or +29/+24/+19/+14(1d8+13 +Bane if you're a human, elf, dwarf, or arcane caster, in which case you should raise the to hit by 2, and damage by 2+2d6); Space/Reach 5ft/5ft; SA Bringer of Vengance +2 (If you're fighting Lord Hhune, you're his targets, these damage bonuses are not calculated in, however),Counterstrike +1, Improved Power Attack SQ Arcane Backlash 1d6; AL NE; SV Fort +27 Ref +17 Will +17; STR 28 DEX 24 CON 22 INT 20 WIS 16 CHA 18 Note: Lord Hhune, if you are his enemy, gains +2 to Hit and Damage which is not factored in. If you have damaged him in the previous round, that becomes +3, leading to a massive 1d10+37 damage on average. Plus, he's rarely encountered alone, AND he fights dirty. Plus, he gains DR 2/- from his Armor Optimization Feat. He is a truly disgusting opponent, and he's MEANT to be. Skills and Feats: Bluff +15, Craft: Weaponsmith +3, Diplomacy +15, Intimidate +25, Ride +25, Sense Motive +20, Gather Information +25, Jump +21, Listen +18, Sense Motive +24, Spot +23 Feats 1) Power Attack 1) Cleave 1) Weapon Focus: Bastard Sword 2) Improved Toughness 3) Iron Will 4) Weapon Specialization: Bastard Sword 6) Slashing Weapon Mastery (Bastard Sword) 6) Exotic Weapon Proficency: Bastard Sword 8) Improved Critical: Bastard Sword 9) Leadership 10) Greater Weapon Focus: Bastard Sword 12) Greater Weapon Specialization: Bastard Sword 12) Steadfast Determination 15) Improved Initiative 16) Quickdraw 18) Armor Optimization: Full Plate Armor Languages: Alzhedo, Common, Chondathan, Damaran, Elvish, Giant Bringer of Vengance (Ex): Lord Hhune gains +2 to hit and damage against anyone who is a designated target. Unfortunately, since he is effectively his own patron, everyone he actually fights is a designated target. Counterstrike (Ex): Lord Hhune gains a +1 to hit and damage bonus against anyone who damaged him in the previous round. Arcane Backlash: If Lord Hhune makes his saving throw versus a spell, and he is the only target, the caster of that spell takes 1d6 of subdual damage. Possessions: +5 Adamantine Elfbane, Flaming Burst, Humanbane Bastard Sword (Reaper), Ring of Evasion, Ring of Protection +5, Cloak of Resistance +5, +5 Mithril Full Plate Armor of Moderate Fortification, Nimble 20 +1 Humanbane Arrows, 20 +1 Dwarfbane Arrows, 20 +1 Elfbane Arrows, 20 +1 Magebane Arrows, Helm of Vision, Boots of Striding and Springing, Bracers of the Blinding Strike, Dragonseye Goggles, Belt of Giant Strength +6, Gloves of Dexterity +4, Amulet of Health +6, +3 Dagger (He really uses this for eating, but hey, you never know) ,*Lord Inselm Hhune has read a Manual of Bodily Health +2, a Tome of Leadership and Influence +2, and a Tome of Clear Thought +2 Note: Lord Hhune has so much time that he has had the ability to take advantage of the rules on retraining, which means he has access to every single skill point he could ever possibly possess (Which I may not have used all of) regardless of his original intelligence score. He also has taken advantage of magical items to inherently increase his ability scores. He has full access to the resources of the Knights of the Shield, and he uses them. Lord Hhune cannot fail a Fortitude Save on a natural 1. Appearance: Unlike the Lord Hhune of most of the other canon material, this Lord Hhune is tall, powerfully built and dashingly handsome. He is still, however, sneaky, manipulative, and ruthless, and devotes his life to scheming and intrigue Lord Hhune's Cohort should be a powerful wizard who works for the Knights of the Shield, though the most likely choice would be Rogue 2/Wizard 3/Unseen Seer 2/Arcane Trickster 9. |
| Lord Karsus02-19-08, 09:27 AM | -A doppelganger, to explain the differences, I am thinking... |
| msatran02-19-08, 09:29 AM | The thing is, if that were the case, Lord Hhune would simply allow the Doppelganger to be slain! :) "Ah! Clearly I was being impersonated!" Plus, it's been too long for me to retcon that now! :) Which, if you think about it, is really the problem. He's been an outlaw in game for so long, and he can influence events in Tethyr just by telling other Knights to do so that it really doesn't matter for the purposes of whatever villainy he plots. |

| Khaelieth02-19-08, 02:39 PM | l don't think he's a vengeance knight, always saw him as more of a rogueish character. Ftr/rog, imo. |
| msatran02-19-08, 02:53 PM | If you saw the old stat sheet and the way it was put together, you might disagree. Keep in mind, Lord Hhune has lost capability with every successive publishing. |
| MarkusTay6302-19-08, 03:06 PM | He was killed by the Doppleganger, who was less 'apt' then the real McKoy, and then a clone of Hhune (provided by a mage and set in motion by contingency magics) comes and takes back the name and title, either killing the Doppleganger, or sending it back into hiding (among the Unseen?). Ergo, a younger clone of Hune is now in his place - one with less experience. ;) That would explain each successive drop in stats, I think. |

| Rinonalyrna Fathomlin02-19-08, 08:05 PM | Interesting way of reconciling the loss of experience.:-P |
