In any case, we're starting up an evil campaign, and I'm looking to create a Machiavellian human warlock. Where might such a warlock come from? Where might they not be from? Seriously, the character concept you've written about is so broad that such a character could really be from anywhere. |
| OctaviusIII11-06-07, 08:44 PM | Thought so. Looking over the campaign setting gave me the impression that some regions tended to produce more of a given class than others. This particular character would have to have been from a somewhat large population center that bred a sense of individuality in him - my first thought is Waterdeep or Cormyr but that's almost too common. He's LE and believes that, although not specifically blessed by the gods he has been gifted with special ability, both in his powers and his persuasive talents, that will lead him to rule over the rest of the world, giving it stability and peace. I suppose that a similar question that might be easier to answer would be, where would a human warlock not be from? |

I suppose that a similar question that might be easier to answer would be, where would a human warlock not be from? The Underdark? The deep ocean? *shrug*:) Really, I don't think you should worry too much about what the campaign setting says--if you think a certain region would be a good place for your warlock to be from, just have him be from there. Just because, say, there are more mages in country X than country Y doesn't mean you can't have your mage be from country Y. Go with what you think makes the best story. |

If you have the FRCS, find a place you think would be interesting as a home territory and go with it. If you want to be a true Machiavellian character you should pick a place with lots of nobles and royal intrique I suppose |
| MarkusTay6311-06-07, 10:24 PM | For some reason, when I hear 'Machiavellian' I think Sembia, for what it's worth. |
| GothicDan11-06-07, 11:13 PM | Sembia, Cormyr, Thay, Calimshan, Amn, Tethyr.. All full of delicious intrigue and could have the potential for infernal magic. |
| zenlike11-06-07, 11:55 PM | As the above posters pointed out, anywhere with a large city and courtly intrigue should do. I'm playing a Warlock (with the Devil Bloodline) from Calimshan in our current FR campaign and it has worked out rather well. Good luck and have fun in the Realms! |
| Thinblade11-07-07, 02:10 AM | Don't forget Impiltur. |
| Rinonalyrna Fathomlin11-07-07, 08:58 AM | Or Waterdeep--a big, popular city and you can fit pretty much anything in there.:) |
| MarkusTay6311-07-07, 12:45 PM | If you want a PC that is a little more 'exotic', try Skuld (Mulhorand), or even Dhaztanar (Semphar). |
| 18DELTA11-07-07, 01:34 PM | How about Dambrath, or the Golden Water area.;) |

| 18DELTA11-08-07, 12:13 AM | I like the Fey flavored Warlock my self. Do you have Complete Mage? Great feats, and Prc classes!:D My first 4E character is going to be a Warlock named Brimstone Blackheart. :plotting: :evillaugh :smirk: |

I don't think of demons or devils, I think of the Fey. Seriously, the Fey are not that nice. They are elmental. Some may help you, others may trick you. |

If it is fiendish heritage you can check out the same home regions of Tieflings. |
