Hello
Chaulssin (small city): Magical; AL CE; 15,000 gp limit; Assets 8,493,750 gp; Population 7,105 free; Isolated (zar’ithra [shadow draconic drow] 55%, zekyl [half-shadow dragon drow] 44%, draa’zekyl [drow-dragon††] 1%); 4,220 slaves (dark bear [shadow quaggoth] 48%, shadar-kaiFF 39%, drow 10%, spectral†† shadow dragon 1%, other 2%).

1) What is the rank of a male drow ? Slave ? Can a male drow gain a rank above the slave ?

In the years that followed, the conflict between the Chaulssinyr and Clan Malaug waxed and waned, with neither gaining permanent advantage. Over time, however, by carefully studying their foes and stealing what secrets they could, the zekylen learned to split their dual natures into two alternate forms, one drow and the other draconic, creating the first drow-dragons††.

2) What is the process ? I search more information about this because in the Dragons of Faerūn book, there are little information on this.
2') What is the condition for a Ointed Blade to become a drow-dragon or obtain the process to become a drow-dragon ?

3) What is the DC to know the possibility to become a drow dragon ?

4) Do the bardic knowledge permit to obtain this information ?

In addition, a half dozen or so additional smaller fosterages were established in Underdark settlements
in which Lolth’s followers were a minor power but drow
could walk openly, such as Skullport and Sshamath.

5) In Sshamath, for example, are there the male drow that operate or it is only the drow with draconic heritage ?

Jaezred Chaulssin (Expansive Criminal): AL CE, NE; 100,000 gp resource limit; Membership 807; Isolated (zekylyn [half-shadow dragonDra drow] 775, zar’ithra’rin [shadowLoM draconicDra drow] 17, draa’zekylyn [drow-dragons††] 8, other 7);

6) What is the race for the "other" ? male drow ?

Requirements: You may not divulge secrets of the guild to outsiders.
You must gain the consent of your superiors before attempting
an assassination or other high profile crime. You must tithe 20% of your profits from performing assassinations or spying to the guild. You must adhere loosely to the tenets of Vhaeraun’s faith.

7) Can a character adhere to the tenets of Vhaeraun's faith without venerate Vhaeraun ?

Special: The Patron Fathers of the Jaezred Chaulssin require a demonstration of skill and commitment in the war against the Spider Queen (usually killing a drow cleric of Lolth and sacrificing her heart on an altar of Vhaeraun).

8) If a character is sacrificing a heart from a priestress drow sacrifice on a altar of Vhaeraun, did the character consider as a follower of Vhaeraun ?

9) What is the DC to know the half-dragon transformation ritual from Vargo Kent, to know that Vargo Kent became a half-dragon via ? Do the bardic knowledge permit to obtain this information ? What is the process ?

10) Is possible for a drow to join the Cult of Dragon at the Wells of Dragons ?

Thanks for your future help.

Regarding population - do note that Chaulssin is not an average Underdark city. Any description I have read of it before - DdUGttUD or the bits and pieces in WotSQ - "tell" of a place that is half in the Plane of Shadow and half on Toril. Anything but shadow-something have/had a hard time surviving. Haven't read the WE in detail - i.e. its history in the WE (if any) thus far though.

Hello
1) What is the rank of a male drow ? Slave ? Can a male drow gain a rank above the slave ?

It seems that male pureblood drow are indeed slaves.

However, I would think that a male drow who shows dedication to the cause as a free (though mostly absent) citizen works fine.

2) What is the process ? I search more information about this because in the Dragons of Faerūn book, there are little information on this.
2') What is the condition for a Ointed Blade to become a drow-dragon or obtain the process to become a drow-dragon ?

I don't believe the details of the process are detailed anywhere. Just chalk it up to a magic ritual, or perhaps an epic spell cast by the Patron Grandfather (remember, sorcerer levels stack with a dragon's innate casting, so the PG is a sorcerer 30).

3) What is the DC to know the possibility to become a drow dragon ?

4) Do the bardic knowledge permit to obtain this information ?

Without specifically finding a source for the info (like one of the Patron Fathers), I wouldn't allow you to know. And since their probably aren't tales or songs about it, bardic knowledge wouldn't help. The closest you would get would be info on Song Dragons, Deep Dragons, Shadow Dragons, Drow, and maybe Nurvereem.

5) In Sshamath, for example, are there the male drow that operate or it is only the drow with draconic heritage ?

Looking at the adventure at the end of the WE (web enhancement), there are many normal drow in the fosterages, so again I see no problem with a male drow devoted to the cause serving as an agent. Having normal drow members would also help with operating without questions.

6) What is the race for the "other" ? male drow ?

Very possible. Also, shadar-kai are a possibility. Note there is a full dragon aiding them in the sample adventure in the WE.

7) Can a character adhere to the tenets of Vhaeraun's faith without venerate Vhaeraun ?

Yes, "adhere to the tenets" simply means "acts in accordance with the beliefs." The beliefs behind the actions can be different, so long as the actions follow the rules. Though you probably will need to know what the tenets of Vhaeraun's faith are, and will probably have to acknowledge Vhaeraun himself in some fashion.

8) If a character is sacrificing a heart from a priestress drow sacrifice on a altar of Vhaeraun, did the character consider as a follower of Vhaeraun ?

Not necessarily. You choose which god you follow, but most people will at least acknowledge other gods when needed.

Ex. A sailor may worship Valkur, but ask Tymora for luck before setting sail.

So one act of acknowledgement, or even reverence does not mean you must worship the power in question. However, the above was only one example of an appropriate test. You could come up with something that doesn't touch on religion as much.

9) What is the DC to know the half-dragon transformation ritual from Vargo Kent, to know that Vargo Kent became a half-dragon via ? Do the bardic knowledge permit to obtain this information ? What is the process ?

The process has not be described. I would say you would need to learn from Vargo or at least have access to the sources he used to perform the ritual. Again, I don't think skills or Bardic knowledge would let you know, though they could reveal that Vargo exists and that he did in fact transform himself into a half-dragon.

10) Is possible for a drow to join the Cult of Dragon at the Wells of Dragons ?

I would say yes. The Cult of the Dragon is always looking for more members, and they need a lot of help at the Well of Dragons. They would be pleased to get help from someone as powerful as a drow.

Drizzt Do'Urden's Guide to the Underdark. Is it a book from 2nd edition, no ?

The write-up of Nurvureem and the mention of the city name comes from 2e. (Specifically, here: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/wn/20030730a) The original brief description of Chaulssin comes from DDGttU.

Chaulssin was flushed out in the WotSQ novels and the Jaezred Chaulssin were introduced in those books.

Drow-dragons are my 3e conception detailed in Dragons of Faerun to explain how to stat up Nuvureem, as described in the 2e article, and the Patron Fathers, as descriped in the novel.

6) What is the race for the "other" ? male drow ?

"Other" is designer "wiggle room" to allow an exception in a future product, or DM "wiggle room" for the campaign, should there ever be a need.

Thanks, Mister Eric L. Boyd.

Will you do a detailed ritual to explain how a half-shadow dragon drow become a drow dragon ?

Dunno the number out of my head, but Nurvureem also got a write-up in one of the Dragons (below 250).

DdUGttUD is a fine sourcebook, one of the last to be out of print as AD&D material (much like Skullport an Cloak & Dagger). Many details (which do not change with editions) on quite a number of places, plus many fine hooks and "cliffhangers".

Unlikely any time soon. Might be a good thing to discuss on these boards.

Thanks, Mister Eric L. Boyd.

Will you do a detailed ritual to explain how a half-shadow dragon drow become a drow dragon ?

The Shadow Dragons performed experiments on the Drow. Then after quite a few years, the Drow mastered their slavers' magics.

As for a ritual, that would be an interestin read.

The commun link between malaugryms and the half-dragon shadow is the "shadow".

The malaugryms are shapechanger.

The drow-dragon become a true dragon and had a shapechanging abilty.

The ritual must be linked with a shapechanging magic.

What are the book from 2nd edition or 3rd edition that describe the magic of the malaugryms (spells, rituals ...) ?

Speaking of Which; What are the relations between Chaulssin and Shade like, I wonder? I mean; both citys are half way merged with the Fringe at the moment, arent they?
