| bhale18702-14-07, 08:30 AM | After reading the 'how to' high AC thread I decided to spend a little time figuring up how high I could get AC on an unarmored character. Then I decided to add in another idea I had awhile back of a monk/dwarven defender. The following is the aberration that resulted. (BTW, I realize it is supoptimal it was just made for fun) str 8(12) dex 16 con 10 int 13 wis 15(18) cha 11 +4 Str from Dragon Disciple // +3 Wis from level bumps 1 Monk Dodge 2 sorc 3 cleric endurance 4 fighter 16 WIS combat Expertise 5 fighter (bonus feat) 6 cleric toughness 7 cleric 8 DrDic 17 WIS 9 DrD (prac spellcaster) 10 DrD 11 DrD 12 Dw Def 18 WIS (feat) 13 DD 14 DD 15 DD (feat) Stat bonuses Dex 3 Wis 4 Class features DwDf 2 DefSt 4 DrDNat 2 feats comEX 5 dodge 1 spells MgArm 4 shld 4 Sh Fth 3 owl's 2 cat's 2 brkskn 4 total 49 |
| bhale18702-14-07, 09:00 AM | It appears I had some bad math, it is actually 50 AC, or 31 without the buffing spells |
| Gaelforcwynd02-14-07, 09:33 AM | It appears I had some bad math, it is actually 50 AC, or 31 without the buffing spells All I can say is that you have access to too much literature. :P |
| bhale18702-14-07, 11:40 AM | Thats only using 3 books. As I think of it I could get a bit higher by taking out 1 fighter level and use tatooed monk 1 a bit later in the build. I guess I could also try to add a couple levels of dueler and Fox's cunning to get 2 or 3 more on top of that if I took Extra spell feat. |
| ZX67002-14-07, 11:46 AM | For unarmored, a high dex martial char with a level of monk is much better off imo. Can get up to a 43 or so unbuffed, without having to Combat Expertise, hehe. |
| LachlarlanIII02-14-07, 12:22 PM | You wouldn't be able to cast Fox's Cunning or Cat's Grace on yourself. Both are 2nd level spells and your Cleric levels only grant Owl's Wisdom. |
| LachlarlanIII02-14-07, 12:42 PM | How about: Dwarf Str 10, Dex 15, Con 12, Int 14, Wis 14, Cha 6 1: Monk 1 - Dodge 2: Monk 2 3: Monk 3 - Mobility 4: Monk 4 - Dex 16 5: Monk 5 6: Monk 6 - Weapon Finesse 7: Monk 7 8: Monk 8 - Dex 17 9: Duelist 1 - Endurance 10: Duelist 2 11: Duelist 3 12: Duelist 4 - Toughness 13: Duelist 5 14: Dwarven Defender 1 15: Dwarven Defender 2 - Combat Expertise Base 10 Stat Bonuses +8 Dexterity (Includes +6 Gloves, Reduce Person Spell) +5 Intelligence (Includes +6 Headband) +5 Wisdom (Includes +6 Periapt) Class Features +2 Monk AC Bonus (Includes Level Boost from Monk's Belt) +1 Dodge - Dwarven Defender AC Bonus +4 Dodge - Defensive Stance from Dwarven Defender Feats +1 Dodge - Dodge Feat +5 Dodge - Combat Expertise Feat Items +1 Insight - Dusty Rose Ioun Stone +8 Armor - Bracers of Armor +8 +5 Deflection - Ring of Protection +5 Spells +5 Natural - Barkskin Spell from Vibrant Purple Ioun Stone +4 Shield - Shield Spell from Vibrant Purple Ioun Stone +3 Luck - Recitation Spell +1 Size - Reduce Person Spell Total 68 AC, 72 vs Giants. While not exactly "naked" You've got to admit that's pretty impressive. |

| bhale18702-14-07, 03:26 PM | You wouldn't be able to cast Fox's Cunning or Cat's Grace on yourself. Both are 2nd level spells and your Cleric levels only grant Owl's Wisdom. I guess that would make it a 46 AC instead of 50. I added the Fox's cunning/extra spell part while I was away from books and for some reason I was thinking it was a cleric spell. Anyway you could use scrolls, but of course that would not be a 'naked' AC. If you were using all the gear this build would be more like 78 AC, I was just trying to figure up a high AC without any equipment. |
| GeorgeFHarris02-14-07, 04:53 PM | You could go DeepWarden2, then you can dump Dex, pump Con, and then Bear's Endurance would add to your AC. And if you chose a Cleric with the Plant Domain, then you could get a Natural Armor Enhancement bonus through Barkskin. (That would stack with most other natural armor bonuses.) GH |

GH I planned it on the plant domain, Barkskin was in the buff spell list. I thought about dumping dex for con with deep warden, but you lose 6 AC on the dodge and combat expertise. |
| Adolfo_Mondschein02-17-07, 02:34 AM | keep in mind, deflection doesn't stack... |
