597 Sorceror Build? [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-13-07, 05:44 PM My 596 Sorceror suffered a TPK. However with the new 597, I'm thinking about making another one.

The problem is which feats should I go with now?

I usually play battlefield control types. I also like summoners but with a sorceror I cannot be too versatile.

So I'm looking at maybe taking either a Heritage feat or Reserve feat to make sure he still has a su-popgun left in his locker if he has to.

Thoughts?

02-13-07, 11:05 PM I'm looking at taking Infernal Sorcerer Heritage and Infernal Sorcerer Howl from PHB2 at 1st level with a Human Sorcerer.

A 30ft Sonic Cone that deals 2d6 damage per spell level sacrificed and has a Fortitude save for half is nothing to sneeze at.

Gets through most resistances and ignores Evasion.

02-14-07, 10:33 AM Yes, Infernal is very tasty.

Since one of the cited reason we cannot play Warlock because of the 'they're evil' issue (TPTB, not me) I'm thinking a Infernal Heritage Sorceror is a nice touch.

The fact that they gain spell casting a level behind sucks for the level 3 feat though. Cannot pick up Fiery Burst because that has a level 2 spellcasting requirement. Of course, I could retrain it at 4th...hmmm possibilities.

02-14-07, 10:58 AM Retraining is not a way to get around pre-reqs. You have to be able to take the feat at the level you normally would be taking it.

02-14-07, 01:56 PM Yeh...retraining can do some things for you, like for example, taking cleave at level 1, and retraining it at level 6 so you can take shock trooper (you could have taken bull rush at level 1, so it helps you get shock trooper without 5 levels of bull rush where it is least useful, and getting cleave when it is most useful)

It can help with feat or PRC requisites IF the requisite is something you could take earlier. Thus a sorc who wants to be a mage of the arcane order can put off cooperative spell and arcane preparation until 6th level (using the L6 feat and a retrain feat) and have the "retrain feat" be something useful in the first 5 levels.
