| Seera06-05-07, 10:09 AM | I recently started looking at making a character who worships the local hero-god who is in residence in the BK, Mulaho Khem (http://www.bandit-kingdoms.net/meta/ARs/Worshipper-MK.pdf). I went with a paladin because . . . well, I wanted to focus on the martial aspects of the diety as the slayer of Abberations. After toying around with the build at work yesterday I found that I couldn't finangle the levels quite right so I thought I would put it out here for ideas. Human Paladin of Malaho Khem 1 - Sorcerer 2 - Paladin 3 - Paladin 4 - Paladin 5 - Sorcerer 6 - ??? (Must have full BAB) 7 - Topaz Guardian (LoM - Assuming my request for a special mission is accepted) 8 - Topaz Guardian 9 - Topaz Guardian 10 - Topaz Guardian 11 - Topaz Guardian 12 - Spellsword 13 - Eldritch Knight 14 - Eldritch Knight 15 - Eldritch Knight The Topaz Guardian is the only must-have prestige class. Everything else can be changed. I am less concerned about power then I am about keeping the abberation-slayer flavor. As for feats, well I only need one for PrCs and didn't come up with much else as I am a BK player and never think about what I would want if I play a paladin :P Heh, this is the first time I've ever really thought about playing a paladin! |

It'll give you your full BAB that you need, and turn undead isn't a horid ability to have. Why the level of Spellsword? One level only gets you a 10 percent reduction on arcane spell failure. (unless you don't plan to wear armor heavier then leather.) Eldritch knight is actually a good prestige class for you build since it continues your BAB, and spell casting. But I wonder if you have enough spell casting to make it worth while (I don't know topaz guardian so I don't know) |

Gotcha Topaz Guardians (5 lvl PrC) Full Bab / d8 HD 3 Levels of Caster Progression (2nd lvl, 4th, and 5th) Good Fort/Will Saves Smite Abberation (2nd/4th lvl) Topaz Diadem (Sacred bonuses to AC and Saves from Abberations) +1 to +3 (1st, 3rd, 5th lvl bumps) Add class level to resist grapples |

Some of the divine feats are pretty nice, but that would be the only use for the turning attempts. Why the level of Spellsword? One level only gets you a 10 percent reduction on arcane spell failure. (unless you don't plan to wear armor heavier then leather.) Solely for the +1 BaB and +1 Caster Level. Eldritch Knight needs to be able to cast 3rd lvl spells and by the time I finish Topaz Guardian I am caster level 5. |

Here are my recommendations: Take Paladin with your first four levels, then take two levels of Sorceror. Since you're getting 2 skills per level either way, capitalize on the hit points at first level. Also, Turn Undead rocks. There's no better way to phrase it than that. Feats: 1 - Weapon Focus (whatever) [longsword if you want to use your Deity's favored weapon] 1 - Power Attack (human bonus feat) 3 - Quick Recovery (make sure you get access in time) 6 - Divine Might (you'll need the damage boost from this - it's almost a must-have) At level 9, take whatever you want. 12 - Arcane Strike! |
