I've heard many folks say that clerics can often fill in as any other class reasonably well. Has anyone developed servicable stealthy clerics? A cleric that would feel at home in a party of rogues, for instance? I'm open to any of the thief/chance themed deities; Kurell, Norebo, Ralishaz . . .

What about Olidammara? I challenge you to create a PC who worships a deity that's actually in the PHB. :P

There aren't many prestige classes that do it well, save for Seeker of the Misty Isle, but Rogue 1 / Cleric 14 can work, as long as you get enough Int/humanity for the skill points.

Actually I have a straight fighter St. Cuthbert "evangelist" and a Hieronean knight (would have worked into Knight of Holy Shielding, but . . . you know how that goes now ;) ).

Why no Oly? I've seen him far too often, gotta spread the worship around the pantheon a bit. :D Though if someone has a build that depends on some special domain Olidammar has, well, I'm open to considering it.

well i believe Fharlanghan has luc kand travel,, the best two domains in the game, making worshipping him as a stealthist a cool proposition. Otherwise Olidamarra has trickery and Luck so you could build that way. using the whole luck theme and going into fortunes friend. Human and int of 12(at least) are a must. Take the luck healing feat at 3rd, and divine fortune at 6th. and something at first, maybe other luck feats or something i dunno.(going rogue 1, cleric 5, Fortunes friend 5, back to cleric. Your sneaky but not sneak attack heavy)

Finally, for a "sneak attack" cleric/rogue theres always black flame zealot, which, while being illegal in keoland, its only illegal if your obvious about it. You could follow Joramy and that would work out well. Rogue 3/ cleric 3(inflicter style)BFZ9 becussneak attakc is better than permanently killing everyone you drop.

Be a Pholtan Inquisitor.

Rogue1/Cleric3/Rogue1/ShadowbaneStalker10

You can probably even go Rog1/Clr4/SBI10 but you'll have to pay some skills cross class or retrain Gather Info.

A few Pale Metaorgs offer access.

Thematically speaking, though, a cleric of one of the thief deities wouldn't necessarily be sneaky. They'd be the hard-as-nails, head-of-a-guild don type.

Divine Prankster. It is open, 6 skill points per level, full caster advancement, and gives Search as a class skill.

Rogue 1/Cleric 4/Divine Prankster 10 - it is even easier now that retraining exists.

I prefer celerity and travel if I'm folling Fharlanghn. I know that rerolling a d20 per day is pretty cool, but the +10 feet of movement and more access to arcane movement spells just really gets my labido flowing!

It's not only illegal in Keoland, it's illegal in Liivng Greyhawk.

Shadowbane Stalker is good, but you lose two levels of spellcasting if you go to 9th level of it.

Divine Prankster is, is, ugh. Who wants to be a gnome anyway? But it's pretty damn good for a skillmonkey caster.

Of course, choosing the right domains, here's a quote from one of the guys in my area:

shadowbane stalker are lawful good in requirements ,,, no diety has both magic and trickery ..... that i know of ...
dieties that work
Wee Jees magic and inquistion ( good dispeller )
Zilchus city and trickery ( city gives gather info and trickery invis )
elhona celerity and plant ( +10 move and haste and barkskin )
cyndor rune and travel ( fly and scribe scroll )

i would pick Zilchus .. city gives the gather info as a class feature and is needed for shadowbane ... also i like the money changer saving my street orphan and turning him/her to good ....

yes concenration is important ......

but a greyhawk charecter cries out to me for a thief / city orphan .......

Clerics with the right domains can emulate what a rogue does via magic. Clerics already have silence, the trickery domain can add invisibility. Knock is another good spell. Staying in light armor and either cross classing or retraining skill points into hide and move silently can help. Getting ranks into Bluff and Sense Motive is good too.

PS: I could swear there was a class out there that gave cleric/rogues an ability to always sneak attack undead. I just can't recall what it was.

Not a class, but an open spell allows it. Gravestrike, a 1st level spell, usable as a swift action and lasts a round

There is a class that does it-Skullclan Hunter. But it doesn't advance your spellcasting and is more of a Rogue PrC than a Cleric PrC.

True. But if you want an undead killing rogue, it's the next best thing to unseen seer. Or a cleric dip.

Temple Raider of Olidammara is cool, but I'm pretty sure access isn't easy.

Also, Razing Strike can be used in place of Gravestrike, which is good because it ups damage output as well as to hit chance.

You can be a Halfling / Human Divine Prankster if you worship certain gods - see the LG Deities document

You want to be human - regardless of how you get there, you need to cross-class Perform, Sleight of Hand, and you'll need the Trickery domain for 1 last point at 5th. That means Human with 14 Int or non-Human with 16 Int.

Retraining helps with some of the costs, but it can't solve that last level unless you wait until 7th to enter.

Zagyg and Olidimmara both allow humans to enter it

Seems like anyone with trickery domain could do pretty well. Invisibility and silence is everyone's friend. Iron silence alone helps a cleric out a lot.

I think trickery makes some of the disguise/bluff things on your list too.

Now if you want a rogue that is also a cleric....you'll need skill points, trapfinding and such, so you will probably need to lose at least one caster level to rogue, scout or beguiler and want to PRC into high skillpoint, full-casting classes. You'll also want decent intelligence and as others have said, human is good because you need the extra skill point and feat.
