| King Kashue03-21-07, 05:25 PM | I'm looking to build a stormlord, but there are two dead feats in the Prereqs. Endurance and Great Fortitude. Another prereq is Weapon Focus, which I want anyway, but as far as I can tell, I need to spend a feat on all three (since none of the legal Stormlord gods have war domain). Am I missing something? I'm not even noticing another prestige class that grants them. So my options are either use my three feats at 1st and 3rd to get these, or take a level of fighter and put myself one caster level behind, which I really don't want to do... |

Rangers also get divine spells, so a straight ranger would eventually qualify for stormlord, if i remember correctly. (I could be wrong on that, but I think it's worth checking into) |

This one is a cleric :D |

It's not exactly cleric, but another way into Stormlord is via Favored Soul, which gives Wpn Focus as a bonus feat. David |

David yea, but you reach stormlord not earlier than with level 7, as you also need third level spells for the prestige class. ciao martin m. |
| jstorrie03-21-07, 08:02 PM | Favoured Soul 6 isn't so bad. You do get your saves bump. |

| Lupo03-21-07, 10:27 PM | And part of the appeal of Clerics is their spell versatility, favored souls don't have that. and don't forget the domain powers a cleric gets. the problem with favoured soul vs. cleric for getting to stormlord is the the question of saving of one feat is worth to have favoured soul spell progression AND loose domain powers. a human can get to stormlord via cleric at level 6, any other race has to wait till level 7 anyway. maybe a wood elf favoured soul, follower of procan (taking advantage of bumps to st and dx) with a trident would be cool (i have such a build somewhere, but no actual intention to use it). feats are power attack (6) to enhance damage output and quick draw (9) to actually make use of the javelins. as a favoured soul is a bad choice for crafting wondrous items, he would only take craft arms&armor (12) [returning is not craftable as a divine caster :(] so there is a free feat at level 15 :P the character is not to powerful but has some nice flavor. ciao martin m. |

Yeah, I was actually looking at a Human follower of Procan, with Luck and Weather Domains. Initial thoughts are something like Str 16 Dex 10 Con 14 Int 8 Wis 16 Cha 8 Since pointblank/precise shot aren't possible, I was figuring a longspear (or greatspear if I could figure out how). Problem with Trident is that it's martial so a Cleric doesn't have proficiency (and the weapon sucks)...If I'm gonna spend a feat on proficiency, might as well be exotic and go with the greatspear. Str would make me useful enough in fights, but the wis would still make me useful as a caster. Luck domain is sweet, Weather is flavor. I've only got one min/maxed character, so "optimal" is not what I go for, but the mix of stormlord with some of the offensive spells in my domains should make me versatile enough, and I would still be quite good as a healing dispenser, especially if I take augmented or sacred healing (since those turns aren't worth much with my Charisma). The two feat sink cost is tough though...I need to run numbers to see what the attack and damage averages look like (as a wonderous crafter, it shouldn't be too bad). |
| zoinks6903-22-07, 01:52 AM | Great Fort is possible via a Belt of Endurance (a&eg). Good luck getting access to one at level 6ish though :) Not sure about Endurance other than the ways already mentioned. Definitely a high buy-in for that PrC. I haven't looked at it lately but if the power is good it's usually worth sucking up the cost to get the payoff later -- it's not as though a cleric 1-5 is going to be useless at any table even if your feats aren't doing much for you. |

"craft wonderous" should be your level 9 feat and than any turning fueled feat at 12, i am a fan of "divine vigor", as your clerics second role will be combatant anyway. that leaves "augmented healing" for level 15. one might switch order for "divine vigor" and "augmented healing" ciao martin m. |
| Gaelforcwynd03-22-07, 10:00 AM | Just take a level in Fighter, get the bonus HP, BaB, weapon and armour proficiencies etc. It's not so bad. :) |
| bitznarf03-22-07, 10:39 AM | And lose a caster level? Blasphemy I say, blasphemy! Although it would basically be a hybrid between the Favored Soul build and the Cleric one. |
| Qworg03-26-07, 04:02 PM | My human Stormlord is at 9th level right now, and he's Fighter 2/Cleric 5/Stormlord 2. I love him. =) I took Net and Trident style (with the prerequisites) and a suite of debuffing spells, and he's great. I do pretty good damage with both javelins (2d6+3) and my +1 Magebane Trident (1d8+1d6+3 or 1d8+3d6+5 against arcanists). I'm also a major debuffer - I ruin charger's days, fliers and more. Nets are an underrated weapon. =) |
