| Jay_Ibero_91105-10-07, 05:20 PM | It's one feat that I really like, but am having a hard time building around. It's obviously best for a Dwarven cleric/druid, but with how feat strapped they are already I'm having a hard time working around it...Anyone have any ideas for a build that incorporates this feat? (Ancestral Knowledge is from Races of Stone btw...) |
| jstorrie05-10-07, 07:42 PM | It could work fairly well with Magic of the Land. But I'm not sure where you'd want to put it; Dwarf clerics are, as you say, very feat-starved. Maybe in a Pious Templar/Battlesmith build. |
| Maesto05-10-07, 10:12 PM | I've got a cleric with it. Going for earth dreamer; I thought it vaguely suited. I think feats look something like ancestral knowledge, earth sense, domain spontanaeity (something), steady concentration and mobile spellcasting. I like the concept; just because I don't get a huge bonus on the checks doesn't mean that they aren't useful. Craft Wondrous Item will probably weed its way into there also; if you can make all knowledge checks using wisdom, boost wisdom as high as possible and get a luckstone + ioun stone + whatever other bonuses you can pull... |
| _metz_05-10-07, 10:17 PM | Hahahaha! Thats awesome - I am considering doing the same with my Earth Dreamer! (well Earth Dreamer next level) I just like the feat... Might drop Sacred boost for it. |
| zoinks6905-11-07, 02:35 AM | I like the feat as well, though I haven't yet leveled sufficiently to add it (was considering it at 9). I'd imagine it's most useful for caster clerics as it would allow you to keep Int to 10ish while concentrating on boosting Wis. Frees up some points to put into something more useful or fun (1 rank in Tumble, for example). Plus it's nice to have for those times when there's no one with Kn: Esoterica around. |
| Jay_Ibero_91105-11-07, 01:49 PM | Race:Dwarf Alignment:Neutral (Boccob, Force+Magic) STR-14 (6) DEX-10 (2) CON-14 (6) INT-14 (6) WIS-15 (8) CHA-8 (0) Lv1(Cleric)Ancestral Knowledge Lv2(Cleric) Lv3(Cleric)Craft Wondrous Item Lv4(Cleric)+1 Wis Lv5(Cleric) Lv6(Cleric)Blade of Force Lv7(Cleric) Lv8(Cleric)+1 Wis Lv9(Cleric)Craft Magic Arms & Armor Lv10(Cleric) Lv11(Cleric) Lv12(Cleric)Feat, +1 Wis Lv13(Cleric) Lv14(Cleric) Lv15(Cleric)Feat I think this could work...The high INT works for skill points, as well as allowing use of up to 4th level arcane scrolls at 8th level, which increases crafting versatility. Blade of Force adds a little bit of damage. Craft Magic Arms & Armor is sorta iffy, but still works nicely with the magic domain. And if nothing else, it's still a full cleric, so anything else is gravy... |
| zoinks6905-11-07, 02:49 PM | If it was me, I'd dump Str (maybe to 10 so you can still wear plate and move around) and bump Wis to 16 and Con to 16 and forego any ideas of being a melee combatant :) Be more of a buffer/healer (throw in Augment Healing, etc.) What makes my brain hurt is that you're kinda pulling double duty with your stats/feats/domains when you don't have to. For instance, you could take Knowledge domain and throw skill points into one of each Knowledge (sooner or later) and not be much further behind where you'd be with Ancestral Knowledge - you might even end up ahead if you keep a high Int. The spell list for Knowledge domain isn't great, but it seems to me the feat slot has more value -- so if'n you're going to take the feat, you might be better off with that small change and putting those attribute points to use elsewhere. |
