| delewobmesid03-13-07, 01:37 PM | I'm looking for ideas on where to take this 1st level character; Barbarian Human 14,14,14,12,8,14; Power Attack, Cleave My original idea was to take him Barbarian 4/bard 1 then dragon disciple, but now I'm not so sure; What would you suggest with this type of character (I plan on taking advantage of retraining for the next few levels to undo any skill mistakes); |
| delewobmesid03-13-07, 01:54 PM | I've considered going Hexblade 4 so I can qualify for Dragon Disciple, but I'm learning toward a more Mutt build getting Mettle from Hexblade and evasion from Rogue; what I don't know is how to optimize this for a Melee Basher; or is this a lost cause and I should just start over? |

Bb 1/Hex 4/DDisciple 10 is certainly a strong build, with plenty of HP and Strength. If you don't want to scrap the character, this is probably the way to go given your good Charisma score. As usual, don't forget Power Attack and then the rest of the feats are really up to you. I wouldn't recommend Shock Trooper because your Con isn't high enough to really withstand the beating you will get after doing a shock trooper charge, but you could make it work if you were dedicated. Otherwise, it's ahrd to say which feats to take beyond Power Attack. If you were to remake the character, I'd icnrease your Strength or Con a bit, drop your Dex and Into to 10, and work from there. |

You actually can't be a barbarian hexblade dragon disciple in LG because of the alignment restrictions of the 3 classes. You could be either Chaotic or Neutral Good and lose hexblade abilities, or Lawful Neutral and lose rage. Or Lawful Good and lose rage AND hexblade abilities... |
| delewobmesid03-13-07, 05:24 PM | *sigh* before it was possible to be a dragon disciple for copper with CN; oh well; guess I'm back to taking one or more levels in bard or warmage... |

You've still got a few options. With a good intelligence and charisma, have you considered Marshal? with 3 or 4 levels, you only lose 1 BAB, and the skills are pretty good. Or perhaps Holy Liberator? You can do that and still keep Chaotic (if that is your alignment). Of course, you won't get any spells with that, unless you pick up a periapt of wisdom. You could pull off a face man with these stats, and still fill a fighter role. I would suggest Outcast Champion, but you have to be half-human for that, I believe. The Dragon Disciple works better if you want to be a stronger straightforward tank. Tom Thowe |

If your Int and Wis were switched, some levels of Holy Liberator would make a lot of sense, but it's still a good prestige class for a fighter type. I also like the idea of Marshal. Bbn2/Mar4 allows entry to Holy Liberator, Pious Templar, or Occult Slayer fairly easily. |
| LachlarlanIII03-14-07, 05:59 PM | Barbarian + 1. |
| Eric Anondson03-14-07, 08:11 PM | With that kind of Charisma score you might want to look at Kiai Shout and Greater Kiai Shout. Fights nicely with a raging barbarian. At a future date Leadership could be taken, and with the Charisma score you could get nice cohorts. |
