With all of the bard threads, what's one more?

I'm toying with the idea of playing a bard enchanter. I've never played a bard, so I'm not sure how best to do this, or if a bard enchanter is even worth persuing.

Here's what I have so far.

1 Bard - Spell Focus (Enchantment,) Unsettling Enchantment
2 Bard
3 Bard - Greater Spell Focus (Enchantment)

6 Bard - Heighten Spell
7 Bard
8 Bard
9 Bard - Rapid Metamagic
10 Bard
11 - Sublime Chord
12 - Sublime Chord - Enchanting Song
13 - Sublime Chord

Looks solid. Remember to keep up on your social skills, you can do devastating things with them, and they don't run out the way spells do.

As mentioned in one of the other threads, I play a caster-focused bard, and it's worked out great for me so far. Enchanter-bards can definitely work in LG; you just need to make sure you have other options (battlefield control spells; damage spells when you get access to them through Sublime Chord) when faced with creatures immune to mind-affecting stuff. And remember, enchantments work on elementals too! ;)

Your build looks pretty good as is. A few suggestions though:

1.) To really pump up your save DCs (important for enchanters), you may want to consider taking a few Fatespinner levels. For example, Bard 10/Sublime Chord 1 or 2 (depending on how important Song of Arcane Power is to you)/Fatespinner 4 or 3

2.) Beg on bended knee, promising your first-born child, for your triad to write in access to Veil of Allure into a mod. It's a magic item out of Sandstorm that adds +2 to the save DC of all enchantment spells.

3.) You may want to consider fitting in Improved Initiative and Danger Sense (reroll init once/day, Complete Adventurer) into your build. It helps you get off your Confusion spell while the bad guys are still grouped together, or be able to cast Feeblemind on the caster before he's had a chance to act.

4.) If you find yourself constantly running low on spells, consider adding Lyric Spell to your feat mix.

5.) Mindless Rage from Spell Compendium is a great little spell to take. I use it in combination with a Carpet of Flying: cast MR while on the carpet, and if the bad guy is landbound, he's basically screwed - the spell makes him do nothing but focus on engaging you in melee, and since he can't........ :D

From what you seem to have built so far, you're probably better off being a Sorcerer or Enchantment specialist Wizard. More feats, better DCs (super-important with all-or-nothing spells), more spells/day, better Enchanter.

Don't forget about Captivating Melody from CM. It lets you burn a bard song for +2 DC on your next enchantment or illusion spell.

Lyric Thaumaturge gets it for free at 2, but the PRC requires Melodic Casting, which ain't bad either.
