| Koushiro02-17-08, 04:12 AM | Hey, I'm just curious if anyone has seen access to this PrC from the Dungeonscape book. It's rather interesting I think seeing as I've often been fond of the little used ability to make Handle Animal checks on magical beasts at a penalty (so long as int is 1 or 2.) I dream of seeing or making a character capable of taming the wild hydras that roam the earth! (Totally legal, just didn't see a way to actually pull it off since the whole how do you subdue a creature with fast healing? Go monstrous empathy!) I've seen stuff from Drow of the Underdark, so I figured I'd ask if anyone has seen this. (Note the lack of asking where to find access to it.) |

It was in a mod that I play-tested for around June/July of last year so the mod should either have been released recently or will be soon. BTW, the mod (and the ones in it's series) has a pretty interesting story to it, as well as having some unique access that just has "cool" written all over it without giving away anything too overpowered. Kudos to the writer! |
| Rayous02-18-08, 09:32 AM | Is it a regional or cor module? |
| Koushiro02-18-08, 03:33 PM | Hehe, well that's really cool and all, I've got no characters in LG who could ever become one. I was just curious if anyone had played with it. I really hope LFR gets rid of the silly access thing. -.- |

| ThaiGQ02-20-08, 06:24 AM | Is it a regional or cor module? It's a regional module. I'm not sure how much I'm allowed to give out here without it being a spoiler, but if you want to know the region, send me a private message. ;) |
| Koushiro02-23-08, 02:52 AM | Well there isn't too much that you can tell without it being a spoiler. YOu can say things like, I've seen it on a cert here in X region and not get into trouble because that doens't help almost anyone. |

Okay, in that case, it's a mod set in the Theocracy of the Pale. ;) |
| Koushiro03-03-08, 04:49 AM | BHA seems to me made for a home campaign. Someplace where you can take advantage of being able to train a Hydra. BHA gives monster empathy, allowing you to make what is effectively a wild empathy check with magical beasts. Hydras are magical beasts with an int score of 2, which according to the PHB makes them a potential target for Handle Animal with the +5 to DCs penalty, something which BHA also negates. So you make friends, spend a few weeks training and you've got your very own Hydra mount, trained in Combat Riding. Bonus points if you manage to snag a cryo-hydra. Now if only I could figure out how to make it an animal companion or a special mount we could make things get really silly. And so it's said, BHA just makes this process fast and easy. It's entirely possible to get your riding hydra without BHA, you just have to figure out how to subdue it for weeks. x.x; "What do you mean I can't bring my mount on the boat?!" has never sounded so awesome. So what do you all think? |
