I'll be starting up a bard for greyhawk ruins, and I would like some different perspectives. I would like to a play a bard that's knowledgeable, and sort of casterish, too. I'm currently looking at:

gnome
8 str
8 dex
16 con
16 int
8 wis
16 cha

1 bard trivial knowledge
2 bard
3 bard melodic casting
4 bard
5 bard
6 bard lyric spell (?)
7 lyric thaumaturge
8 lyric thaumaturge
9 lyric thaumaturge (featses?)
10 lyric thaumaturge
11-15 sublime chord

Obviously, I don't know what feats to take. Any thoughts, guys? I'm also toying with the idea of dropping a level of bard for marshall because I want to use diplomacy as well. Would that be worth it? I don't care if my BAB is in the toilet.

I would strongly recommend figuring out what your plans are in combat before Sublime Chord is available to you. This might also help to guide your choices of feats somewhat.

Well I really don't want to try to do physical damage because it'll just be weak, so I plan on buffing well and casting when appropriate.

Looks like Extra Music and/or some sort of Metamagic is in order.
Possibly Rapid Metamagic to go with it.

Lyric Thaumaturge 5 pairs nicely with Born of the Three Thunders.
