| rjw9704-27-07, 10:14 AM | What exactly does a knight bring to the table? I have been kicking around between a paladin and a knight, and the truth is I am ignorant about knights. Are they melee based, I have read some other threads where they appear to be geared to mounted combat. What benefits are there in being a knight. Aslo, what is the ability scores that matter most for this class? Knights can be defined in so many different ways, and without having the background or the book to read up on them, I thought I would ask you guys for help. Personally, I like the idea of playing a wood elf as a knight. Thoughts? |

Pros: d12 heavily armored, some battlefield control (for a melee) tank. Some bonus feats. Great will saves (unusual for a tank). Some cons: challenge bonuses are morale bonuses and won't stack with a bless, rage/heroic spells, or bardic inspiration. Knight's code is pretty stringent. You don't get flanking bonuses. Crappy fort and reflex saves. As for wood elves...the -2 con still hurts, but the +2 str is nice. I'd take a half-orc over a wood elf though, if strength is what you are looking for. My personal choices for knight are human or dwarf. YMMV. |
