While it's possibly feasible to build a good Geomancer if you can use Duskblade as a base class, this isn't an option for many LG characters. So what Geomancers can we come up that, at the very least, aren't horrible?

Here's one I might suggest:
Human
Str 14 Dex 10 Con 14 Int 8 Wis 12 Cha 14
1 Bard: Battle Caster, Battle Dancer
2 Fighter: Power Attack
3 Barbarian: Extra Rage
4 Bard
5 Bard
6 Bard: Iron Will
7 Holy Liberator
8 Holy Liberator
9 Holy Liberator: Improved Initiative
10 Geomancer
11 Geomancer
12 Geomancer: Arcane Strike, elk speed drift
13 Geomancer: dryad diplomacy drift
14 Geomancer: antler horn drift
15 Geomancer: Leadership, retrain Battle Caster to Reckless Rage, crocodile bite drift

Any other ideas? I mean, yes, this prestige class sucks, but surely someone has something better than 'cast wizard spells in plate at the loss of three caster levels'...

I don't have the prereqs in front of me, but perhaps some sort of build that gets into Sublime Chord at 11, then can use Geomancer to build off Sublime Chord casting? Thus, no reduction in spellcasting, as you're still at full Sublime Chord progression.

Like a Cleric 3 / Bard 7 sort of thing? It could work, yeah!

It doesn't really. The real issue with Geomancer is that you don't really get anything for taking it until you hit 5th level in it. The cool ability doesn't come until 7th(Leopard Pounce). And Bard doesn't really need the special no ASF thing anyway - and Sublime Chord doesn't benefit from it because it isn't high enough level.

That's not to say it couldn't work eventually, say around 18th level or so, but it won't happen in standard LG.

I think the cool abilities are not so much Leopard Pounce as Wolf Trip and Bird Wings, myself.

Which still has the same problem - how are you getting to 7th level in Geomancer with Sublime Chord? It has bad language for advancing one class and then another.

Really, about all I can imagine for it is some weird Cleric 12/Wizard 3 build that instead goes Cleric 3/Wizard 3/Geomancer 9 - that takes Master's Touch for a big exotic weapon, casts Divine Power/Quickened Divine Favor and GMW on all his various parts, then Pounces in with Shock Trooper.

1: Power Attack, Improved Bullrush
3: CWI
6: CA&A
9: Shock Trooper
12: Quicken Spell

One of those builds where at 13th level, it will be pretty nasty - at 14th, then the Trip comes into play. But the exact kind of character that everyone grimaces at when they see you approach the table before that...
