| AreteLaugh02-26-07, 02:12 AM | Does anyone have any good ideas about a prestige class for a Chaotic Cleric with a summoning focus? This is a cleric of Trithereon (Spell Focus (conjuration), Augmented Summoning) so I would like something in keeping with the summoner theme. At this point it appears to me that all published prestige classes are off limits or inappropriate ( War Priest, Chrch Inquistor, Sacred Exorcist, Alienist). At this point the only thing I see on the horizon is Contemplative (level 10) or Hierophant (level 12). I was hoping for ideas around level 6 or 7. I tend to discount the Divine Oracle. Any ideas? Thanks, :headexplo |

However, if you can't do that one and since you don't want to be a Divine Oracle, you do still have a few other options. If you can get access to Ruathar, you should definitely take it. You could also consider Earth Dreamer. |

There is no alignment restriction on Alienist other than non-lawful. You can be good and still be one. I have a summoning CG Cleric of Zagyg (madness & knowledge domains) working towards Alienist. |

I dimly remembered an alignment restriction and I thought it was Good/Evil rather than Lawful/Chaotic, but I didn't check before posting. Of course, there remains the problem of the special prerequisite but it seems at least one Core mod. per year offers it. Hmm.. I wonder if some meta-org do too :thinks: |
| Donald_Cannith02-26-07, 03:02 PM | Yes but I actually have this same problem with my own cleric ( that pesky skill focus knowledge religion keeps divine oracle offl imits as I think Extend spell is infinitely more useful and is worth not having divine oracle.) I lookedat alienist and the big issue I see for a cleric using itis taht you get wisdom penalty to gets larger as time goes on. AND you no longer have access to things like archons or Bralani through alienist. To be perfectly honest, I think you are better off going strait cleric and the maybe taking contemplative. Heirophant is interesting but only if you want to give u pthe spell casting progression, which I think is only worth losing one level if anything and i stress IF. |

| Donald_Cannith02-27-07, 01:24 AM | still thats not the main point, that wis penalty could, in the end, cost you the ability to cast your highest level spells. |
| trollbill02-27-07, 10:08 AM | still thats not the main point, that wis penalty could, in the end, cost you the ability to cast your highest level spells. Oh, for sure, the 2 Point Wisdom hit is painful to Clerics (the PrC was primarily designed for arcane casters, afterall). But you can plan your build around it. If you start with a 16 Wis and bump it up every opportunity you still have a 17 at 12th and if you can't get another +1 from something by 15th, you've got more problems than just not being able to cast high level spells. The DC hit isn't that painful because it doesn't effect summonings, anyway. |
