I'm relatively new to the Living Greyhawk campaign setting and my group doesn't have a lot of resources. I would like to make a "wolfman" type of character (sort of a tribal, animal loving guy). I am curious how best to incorporate this theme into my character using Greyhawk feats, races, and the like. Any ideas would be appreciated. I would also appreciate suggestions for Greyhawk sourcebooks to buy (my group already has the Living Greyhawk Gazetteer). Thanks for the help!

Oooo...there's lot's you can do with this. First thing we'd need to know is what region you live in. That might help you figure out what organizations and stuff might appeal to your character.

Getting into the character, you would try the obvious route of druid. They have the lovely wildshape ability, to make you into a wolf. But if you want a hybrid, there's a PrC in one of the Complete books (either Complete Warrior or Complete Adventurere) that allows you to add animal traits to yourself. Very nice. Another (more spell-casty) way to do it is Geomancer. You'll need arcane spell casting, but you can start to deck yourself out with claws, fur, the works. ^.^

And for books, I recommend you pick up the Complete series. Warrior, Divine, Arcane, Adventurer. Also, you'll want to pick up the Miniture's Handbook.

Animal Lord (Wolflord) in Complete Adventurer is flavourful and mildly powerful - it can net you Improved Trip, but not until the mid-levels.

Druid / Nature's Warrior / Warshaper, though, is probably going to be the best bet here.

Thank you for your help. I would definately like to know of any regional feats or organizations that would add flavor to my character concept. My Living Greyhawk region is the "Free Lands of Dyvers". Thanks again.

Since you live in Dyvers, take a look at the Druids of the Gnarley Forest, and the Rangers of the Gnarley Forest. Either sounds appropriate.

You should know that there are a LOT of adventures going on RIGHT NOW that are set in the Gnarley. Also think about a trip to Illinois/Indiana (Verbobonc), as the Gnarley Forest covers multiple countries.

I would probably go with a human, and pick from barbarian, scout, ranger, or druid. Get an animal companion when you can. Buy a dog (players handbook) to tide you over until then.

Have a LOT of ranks in Survival. Live off the land, and never pay upkeep. You smell like a wolf, but that's cool anyway. Knowledge nature is appropriate, so is Track. Spot and Listen aren't bad choices, either, wolves notice stuff. Avoid the alertness feat, it stinks.

If you base your character in Verbobonc, you could also join the Wanderers of Coldeven. It was founded by Fenegaz, who's got the Totem of the Wolf. (druid 12/ranger2). Their Yahoo group might be a great place to go for ideas.
