I am considering 7th level cohort concepts for my 9th level feat. I am looking to have some sort of support character for my friend and my duo of a spiked chain fighter and wizard (also 9th).

The current thinking is a marshal2/bard4/warchanter leadering up to the ability to inspire recklessness at 9th.

Another thought would be a snow elf cleric of solonor as a useful style choice if I pick up bear warrior.

I'd love to hear some details or other ideas.

I've read this post twice and I'm not certain what your 9th level character is? Is it the spiked chain fighter? Do you have power attack?

Sorry about the confusion. Yes, I have a spiked chain fighter with power attack. Fighter4/Barbarian3/ExoticWM1. I think Bear Warrior will be the next level. It's powergamed with a little story and a little wierdness but, I try to keep it in game and play out flaws as well as strengths.

While this works great as a PC, would the CHA bonus be enough to merit the marshal levels?

Without them you could be warchanter2 and get the inspire recklessness next level. A simple fighter1/bard4/warchanter2 could work.

Also which auras are you looking to have him project?

Do you ever encounter marshals at your tables?

If I recall correctly, Inspire recklessness requires 12 ranks of perform. Either way, I get to use the ability at 9th. There was another reason i had not to go fighter but, it has escaped me.

I encounter marshals occasionally but, am mostly figuring on the Inspire Dex for the Initiative boost and physical challenges. Unless the other marshal is using the same power, they could just bump the dex boost after the first round. The 2nd level is taken mostly to get the point of BAB and comes with the major aura of which a few would work nicely.

A competent social character will compliment the two of us who can be pretty surly and an unenhanced 16 CHA and skill focus diplomacy are a good start.

No problem, mea culpa on not noticing the ranks required. They normally tend to come online just being max ranks, so I missed it.

Depending on the frequency of marshals you might consider a different minor aura. Boosting Will saves or the like.
