I have a Cohort who has picked up access to war weaver as of 5th level; I originally made him an evoker with opp enchantment and necromancy; I will be giving him another level of wizard to so he can meet the prerequisits of the prestidge class;

I think I want to change the character's specialization/opposiition schools to unlock necromancy (mass false life for a second level spell in a few levels seems like a bargain to me)

Here is the original build so far
Human Evoker: opp necro/ench
10,13,14,15+1,12,8
1st: Empower spell, metamagic school focus
3rd: Firey Burst
5th: Extend spell

spell book
1st: colorspray, grease, mm, mage armor, identify, (don't remember)
2nd: scorching ray, blast of force, glitterdust, (don't remember)
3rd: fireball, haste

If I change the character's specialization, does metamagic school focus 'follow' the retraining or would that invalidate it?

I do believe that each MMSF 'option' is in reality a different feat, the same way Weapon Focus and Weapon Spec are. So as I understand it, you would have to first retrain MMSF (Evocation) into something else (like Skill Focus (Craft (Basketweaving)), then retrain your specialization, then retrain SF(C(BW)) into MMSF (new school).

I agree with Bitznarf: being a specialist evoker is the prereq you're using to get MMSF (Evocation), so you would need to first retrain MMSF (Evoc) to Feat X, then retrain your specialization, then retrain Feat X to MMSF (new specialization). Retraining feat/ability trees is a pain :(

Note that you can't put False Life in a warweaver's tapestry: it's a Personal spell and they're explicitly disallowed.

Yep, in fact, you'd probably be better off unlocking Enchantment (or just retraining to become a Generalist after retraining MMSF) as a War Weaver can do some pretty nice things with Heroism.

My soon to be Warweaver has retrained out of MMSF to Enlarge spell, but now I don't know what spells are the best and what feat makes the most sense for a lvl 6 cohort...
