| Tengu05-16-07, 08:07 PM | Hi all, I was working on an arcane sniper when I came across the Initiate of the 7 fold veil... I liked the idea of a laser guy that could "raise shields". I came up with a gray elf build and a human build. Problem is that you have to give up a lot of feats to get access to these PrC's and can't use those feats for things better suited for a snipper or mega mage type. Please critique my builds and give me ideas. Gray Elf Sniper/IotSFV: S8,D17,C12,I17,W,10,Ch10 1. Rouge 1: Sneak Attack, Trapfinding, (1) Point Plank 2. Wiz 1: Summon Familiar, Scribe Scroll (or 2. Elf Wiz Substitution from RotW, gain generlist wiz. feat) 3. Wiz 2: (3) Skill Focus: Spellcraft 4. Wiz 3: Dex 18 5. Wiz 4 6. Wiz 5: (6) Spell Focus: Abj, Bonus Feat: Precise Shot (from Elf Sub) 7. Spellwarp 1: Spellwarp 8. Spellwarp 2: Dex 19 9. Spellwarp 3: Improved Precise Shot (is this a spell-like weapon feat?), (9) Greater Spell Focus: Abj 10. IotSFV 1: Warding/1, unimpeachable abj; red veil 11. IotSFV 2: Unanswerable Strike+2, orange veil 12. IotSFV 3: Int 18, Warding/2, Yellow Veil, (12) Quicken Spell 13. IotSFV 4: Reactive Warding; Green Veil 14: IotSFV 5: Warding/3, Blue Veil 15. IotSFV 6: Unanswerable Strike+4, Double Veil; Indigo Veil, (15) Maximize Spell Post-Retire 16. IotSFV 7: Int 19, Warding/4; Kaleidoscopic Doom, Violet Veil 17. Spellwarp 4 18. Spellwarp 5: Ray Master, Spell Focus (?) 19 Archmage 1: Mastery of Elements 20 Archmage 2:Int 20, Spell Power And for a Human, the following changes: Human Sniper/IotSFV: S8,D14,C14,I17,W,10,Ch9 1. Rouge 1: Sneak Attack, Trapfinding, (1) Point Plank (H) Precise Shot 4. Wiz 3: Int 18 6. Wiz 5: (6) Spell Focus: Abj, Bonus Feat: Quicken Spell 8. Spellwarp 2: Int 19 9. Spellwarp 3: Precise Shot 12. IotSFV 3: Int 20, (12) Maximize Spell 15. IotSFV 6: (15) Free Feat Post-Retire 16. IotSFV 7: Int 21 20 Archmage 2: Int 22 So, any ideas on how to make this guy better would be great! Of if you think this guy won't work so well, I'd like to hear that, too. Also looking for any spell ideas you may have for him. Thanks! |
| bitznarf05-16-07, 09:38 PM | IIRC Io7V requires 5th level spells, something you don't have at character level 9, thus with the Rogue dip you will only get Io7V 5 before retirement. |
| Tengu05-16-07, 10:38 PM | IIRC from Ca "able to cast five abj spells, including at least 2 of 4th level or higher". I should get access to 4th level spells at CL7 (with 1 level in Rogue), I will be at CL7 at character level 8. |
| bitznarf05-16-07, 10:48 PM | No, you're right, I just looked it up, its the 12 ranks thing that limits it to entry at level 10. |
| Sieylianna05-17-07, 07:57 AM | Do you have access to the elven racial subsitution levels? If not, I wouldn't even consider the elf version. Improved precise shot requires a BAB of 11. Can't tell whether this is a class abilit that ignores pre-requisites. Ed |
| Tengu05-17-07, 09:17 AM | OK, missed that one. So, Spellwarp at level 3 reads "precise shot" or if you have it you can take any feat that you have the prereqs for under Point Blank Shot. So if I go with the human and take Point Blank, and Precise Shot as a level 1 rogue, then what should I take when I get to Spellwarp 3? Far Shot? Rapid Shot? Would be nice to be able to take a spell-like weapon feat... |

You could take PBS and Precise SHot at 1st level, then when you get to Spellwarp 3, retrain the 1st level precise shot to something else and get it back as the spellwarp 3 bonus feat. Alternately just take Ranged Recall from complete mage...assuming you also take weapon focus (Ray)... |
