Get redundant track from ranger+deepwarden, but oh well. Gnome Twist Cloth is nice because it doesn't have a max AC bonus, so you always get full benefit from crazy con, and once you get proficiency, you even get it's bonus on touch attacks. Beguiler removes the need for charisma, which is nice, as well as getting some handy spells like comprehend languages, and disguise self for when you don't wanna look to dragony. The only thing I don't like is that the armor spikes don't benefit from power attack, but at least the bite can....I come up with way to many build ideas...I really gotta cut down... |

| Jay_Ibero_91103-07-07, 03:04 PM | I'm noticing a distinct lack of two-weapon fighting feats... And the problem is? Axespike gives you a secondary spike attack when you full attack wiht greataxe, and you don't need anything to make a secondary attack with the bite....The benefit to Axespike is you don't take a penalty to your other attacks unlike with TWF, even if the penalty to the spike attack is more. This way you get a chance to hit with an extra attack without reducing the chances of hitting on the priamry damage attack. |

| thorinXXX03-08-07, 11:35 AM | Armour spikes on a gnome twistcloth? Am I the only DM who has problems with this? Silly as it seems there is no rules justification to deny it. Armor spikes has no notation that it must be attached to any particular type of armor. And twistcloth has nothing prohibiting the attachmennt of armor spikes. |
| thorinXXX03-08-07, 12:17 PM | I didn't crunch the numbers, but it looks real tight on skill points for Deepwarden. Is that extra attack from armor spikes worth two feats? {Weapon Focus (armorspikes) and Axespike} It is at half str bonus to damage (which is still decent) and you cannot power attack with it. Cute as it is, is twist armor worth a feat? It would probably be easier to get Bracers of Armor, or have a friendly arcanist cast Mage Armor (or the greater variety). |
| Crazy Boro03-08-07, 01:44 PM | The no dex penalty allows you to have your full con bonus. With the armor on, you can get some of those nifty armor enchantments without worrying about limiting your bonus to AC. You *might* get access to special bracers that do the Arms and Equipment Guide crafting rules, but you have a slim chance of getting that let alone being allowed to put the armor enchantment you want on it. You can also, IIRC, use the amor bonus from the twistcloth for your touch AC if you've got the armor proficiency. (Sorry, don't have any of my books handy right now.) |

It just makes it for skill points, and had a few to throw at random stuff at some levels. As far as Axespike...it's pretty much for flavor. I'm sure there are many more powerful things to use, but I kinda like it. And as noted...the twist cloth armor, once you have proficiency, applies against touch attacks, and costs the same to enhance as bracers of armor, and can get any armor enhancements I get access too, unlike bracers. It also has no max dex bonus, so I can apply my full con to AC. I know putting spikes on twist cloth is....odd...to say the least...but it's legal.... |
| Donald_Cannith03-08-07, 07:26 PM | Maybe i just do not know the rules well enugh but how does armor effect your max Con bonus. Ithoguht thatwas jsut dex. OR is that a feature of deepwarden that i am unfamiliar with? |

OR is that a feature of deepwarden that i am unfamiliar with? Deepwarden lets you use your con bonus in place of your dex bonus for armor class. It doesn't specifically say so in the Stone Warden class feature, but in the LGCS there is a clarification that if you have this feature you are still restricted by the max dex bonus of whatever armor you are wearing. So no +10 con bonus to AC in full plate. From the LGCS page11: Deepwarden: Stone Warden is limited by the maximum Dexterity bonus to AC for the type of armor worn. |
