Hey I was trying to build a character for Greyhawk Ruins and I got the idea for a Divine Prankster of Zagyg as a gnome. What is the best way to pull it off? Is it possible to take perform comedy for bardic music. Also, I didnt know if I should use Bard or Rogue levels I was unsure so I decided to try this
Gnome
Str:10(4)
Dex: 12(4)
Con 14(4)
Int:10(2)
Wis:14(6)
Cha:15(8)
I was going to take Cleric first simply because the party needs a Cleric and I am it but here it goes
Trickery and Madness Domains
Bard 1: Extra Music
Cleric 1:
Cleric 2: Practiced Spellcaster(Cleric)
Cleric 3:
Bard 2:
Divine Prankster 1: Divine Fortune
DP2
dp3:
dp4: Ironskin Chant
DP5:
DP6:
DP7:Extra Turning
Dp8:
dp9:
DP10: Arcane Accompaniment

or possibly
Rogue 1: Dodge
Cleric 1
Cleric 2; Titan Fighting
Rogue 2: Evasion
Cleric 3
DP1: Practised Spellcaster (cleric)
DP2
DP3:
DP4: Extra Music
DP 5:
DP6:
DP7: Ironskin Chant
Dp8
dp9
dp10: Extra Turning

General consensus is that Rogue is a lot better than Bard (trapfinding yay!), and you should only loose one caster level (take more Cleric before Divine Prankster / retrain the skillpoints instead of taking the second level of Rogue).

well the group I am playing this chara ter in already has a guy who is going to be rogue primarily so I feel as though there would be some overlap there. Is killing joke not worth losing two levels of casting. If I delay entry into the prestige I lose Killing joke. Is there no other way to do it. The trouble is, with 2 skill points per levelas a cleric moist of skilling up is going to have to be done in other ways. The easiest thing I can think of is taking bard 1st,tho the party needs a cleric and i am it. and simply retraining the skill points from it at 5th level to give myself skillpoints I need and use my cleric stuff on concentration and spell craft to get ironskin chant and practised spellcaster.

First of all, I think you should concentrate on your Divine progression, NOT bardic if you need a cleric in your party. Hence go wisdom not cha as primary stat.

Secondly, Craft wondrous item is TOO good to pass up, with any character, so you should really take it. Furthermore, should really have con 16 if you are a gnome (otherwise not getting a points benefit).

Domains: Trickery and Magic (magic is better than madness, and is just as in character for an archmage's worshiper, gnomes are insane enough to not need the domain anyways)

The Divine Prankster stacks for bardic music ,so I would go the bard route if you already have a rogue.

I would go:

Str: 10
Dex: 10 (buy Heavy Plate)
Con: 16
Int: 10
Wis: 15
Cha: 14

Stat boosts to wisdom.

Build:

1. Bard1: Extra Music
2. Cleric1:
3. Cleric2: Practiced Spell caster (Cleric)
4. Bard2:
5. Cleric3:
6. Divine Prankster1: Craft Wondrous Item (craft early, craft often)
7. Divine Prankster2:
8. Divine Prankster3:
9. Divine Prankster4: Reach Spell?
10. Divine Prankster5:
11. Divine Prankster6:
12. Divine Prankster7: ???????
13. Divine Prankster8:
14. Divine Prankster9:
15. Divine Prankster10: ????????

Rest of the feats up to you, but extra music seems like a good idea at some point.

This way you are a 13th level cleric, ?(CL 15) and the bard seems more in character.

I would say no - while nice, it takes 3 rounds, which rules it out in combat (much better things for you to do for three rounds), and many things are immune to it (mind effecting, language dependent compulsion).

Compared with getting all your spells a level earlier? If your party needs a cleric, they may prefer more spells.

to give myself skillpoints I need and use my cleric stuff on concentration and spell craft to get ironskin chant and practised spellcaster.

It's not clear to me whether "Comedic Performace" counts as Bardic Music for using Ironskin Chant, so you may be reduced to only two uses per day.

If they are useable, Inspire Spellpower looks like a nice feat if you adventure with other casters.
