Is there any way to access this class for a new character? I understand there are at least one or two methods of gaining access later, via a special mission if nothing else, but I would prefer to have a straight, non-multiclassed dragon shaman if possible.

No.

Not being unnecesarily curt here, but there is no way in LG. It's not an open base class, so you need access which means 2nd is the earliest you can get it.

Okay, I lied. Maybe. In a previous core special, a base class (Shadowcaster) was allowed that let you transfer a class level for an existing sorcerer level every time you levelled up, so it's theoretically possible that you might be able to get some sort of rebuilding option in a mod somewhere and end up with all levels in a base class. However, that chance is so slim that it might as well not exist.

So for practical purposes...No.

So no option for starting at first then? I'd not really care to retrain him anyway, whether through standard retraining rules or by way of a special allowance; legal or not I am not into retraining or altering a character's past choices.

I am fairly new to the RPGA, and was hoping I might get some kind of access with character 'A' that can be applied to a new character 'B' at creation - does that exist as a possible option?

If not, does anyone have any hints or advice on how I might take a fairly low level character into levels of dragon shaman, through an adventure, or meta-org access, etc?

Thanks!

That does not exist. With the exception of the first AR of the greyhawk ruins series. (and that only happens if the first dies).

As for the Dragon Shaman access, I do not think any metaorgs offer it, the odd module might, but I am unaware of any cores.

Contact your regional triad for information on a potential special mission. (Though most people I know don't like to give out Dragon Shaman access, its too top heavy.)

If you have access and leadership you could have a cohort single-classed as a Dragon Shaman.

Not precisely what you're looking for, but it's something.

Actually, I've seen something similar. PCs face a world ending threat, one of them chooses to sacrifice himself, and gets an AR that allows a new 1st level character with bonuses (unlocked race, spell-like abilities, etc). However, this is so rare that it might as well not exist and you can't exactly plan for it (I know of probably 2-3 people in the Pale that has had something like this happen out of a sample size of several hundred people with multiple characters each).

Your best bet is to contact your regional Triad and request for a special mission. Find other people seeking similar access. Depending on how busy your triad is, it might take a while to get it. If the class you want doesn't fit the region, your Triad might even deny the request.

My advice? Create a character with the intent of going Dragon Shaman, play a few intros, but don't level into 2nd. Gather a few others interested in a low APL special mission for access to NONC classes, spells or feats and put those characters on hold and apply for a mission.

Create a new character as your primary in the meanwhile. It might be a while before your triad can get to your request (getting out mods and metaorgs that benefit hundreds take priority over special missions that only benefit 5-6 people).

Don't bother with looking through metaorgs since they can't give access to a core class.

You can go through a cohort route, but you'll still need to unlock the class with your main character to do so.
