Well I never played a druid before and it seems like it would fit well into our play group. Mainly deciding between playing a druid or an infernal howl sorc with spell shield. The druid access for GHR doesnt seem very impressive though. Spontaneous Rejuvenation doesn't seem very good though I could be mistaken on this. (Anyone have any experience with this?) I also haven't had a chance to look up what Rootwalker is from dugeonscape. As far as how I wanted to play my druid I was thinking of going druid 15. Focusing on wildshape and the pet. With full casting to back it up. Not that big on summoning though personally. Planning on staying in animal form most the time. I also really like the idea of wildshaping into the different grappling monsters. (BTW can I only turn into creatures from the Monster Manuel I? Or are there other options?) Never played a druid before either so any advice is welcome.

Rootwalker effectively turns you from an animal lover into a vermin lover. Spontaneous rejuvenation is really nice. It allows you to be on par with a cleric's healing ability outside of combat. You won't be a great (decent, but not great) healer during combat, but it seems that you'd rather be in the mix during combat anyway.

As for the character build, my only issue is that 4 points for 1 hp per level seems a bit much for something like this. I'd stick with a 14 con and use those points in something else, like int. Also, don't forget that you have to get to level 5 before your concept even begins, so think about putting more points into strength to get there (not a lot, just two or four from the con drop). That way you'd get a little more benefit from your first two feats while waiting on the ability to wildshape. Or better yet, spend those first two feats on something beneficial now and retrain them at levels 4 and 5.

Druids work best outdoors. GHR is all indoors. Don't.
