I was looking for a build to make use of the Reserve feats and it seems druids get a really nice spell selection for them. I was wondering though, would it be better to take Earth Spell? It uses up 3 feats but it lets me Heighten any spell I'm using for a Reserve Feat (as long as it's 1 below my max) and get it one higher than normal.

Example, at 6th level I can have Earth Spell and the Fiery Burst reserve. I'd heighten a Flaming Sphere spell to 3rd, making it effective 4th and caster level 7th, and use that to power Fiery Burst to do 4d6 with a Reflex save of 14+WIS Modifier at 6th level.

Thoughts and suggestions are welcome.

I'm not certain that Earth Spell would actually improve reserve feats. Heighten Spell certainly does on it's own, but the Earth Spell feat says it applies when you actually cast the spell. That and you can't apply Earth Spell to air, fire, or water spells. What you COULD do, it take spell focus (evocation) and metamagic school focus in place of earth sense and earth spell, and get the same effect on up to 3 spells per day, and not be restricted by descriptors. A better option than Fiery Burst is Storm Bolt powered by Call Lightning. Same damage, but no SR or save. My druid is looking to take Invisible needle at 12th level, powered by Enveloping Coccoon.

Note that all of the attacks using reserve feats are supernatural - so SR doesn't apply to any of them (to Storm Bolt OR Fiery Burst).

Also, if you're willing to burn a feat for heighten, I believe you can have a spell of the descriptor in question at ANY level.

I was comparing Storm Bolt to call lightning when I was saying no SR or Save, and even in comparison to fiery burst, storm bolt has no save while fiery burst does. Also, I wasn't specifically referencing hieghten spell on it's own, but Earth Spell, which specifically states you can't apply it's benefits to spells with those energy desciptors...
